Online dating is no different than picking someone up in the real world, you are putting your best foot forward. The problem is people have a hard time talking about themselves without sounding like a self-absorbed a-hole.

Plus on Tinder you really just have pictures and a couple lines to grab their attention.  Step 1 is to grab a close friend to help you with your profile.  They will have no problem talking you up and reminding you of all the cool things about you.

Step 2 is to grab a bottle of wine or a case of beer .. and start getting creative because it’s time to build your Tinder Profile.  And let’s be real here, pictures are the way you stand out on Tinder.

Do’s and Don’ts for Posting Pictures Online Dating

DO post at least 3 pictures (really you should post 5) of yourself and smile; after all dating is suppose to be fun!  1 or 2 is not enough to convince me what you really look like. So post more pictures.

DON’T post group pictures, seriously don’t make me guess who you are or post a pic with your ex or kid or a group of friends.  Do your best to keep the pictures about you and the attention on you.

DO choose pictures that are in focus, yeah seems obvious, but it’s amazing how many people miss that. Tinder is really all about the aesthetics; that weird blurry shot isn’t helping anyone.

DON’T go shirtless or show lots of boob.  I am pretty convinced that you may stand out more if you aren’t showing your boobs! Seriously, tone it down a little. And if you don’t, just keep on expecting to meet shallow people, who only want sex or sex with your boobs.

DO show off your interests.  Include pictures where you are doing things that you love to do: playing basketball, hiking, walking the dog or dancing.  Anything that shows off who you are.

DON’T go overboard trying to be quirky or interesting. Remember you want to date nice normal looking people, so if you post too many photos in a Halloween costume or with crazy gang sign hand gestures, they’ll just swipe on to the next.
