Should I break up with my girlfriend before Stampede?

Male, Single, 19: I am currently in a relationship and it's going well.  We’re young, having fun and I like hanging out with her., you know, regular mushy shit... BUT I am 19, Stampede is almost here and I want to be single.  No attachments and tear it up during Stampede.

Basically I am thinking of breaking up with my girlfriend before Stampede. There may be a chance we get together after but who knows.  I am sounding like a total douche but I feel like I might regret this.  Should I do it?  What is the best way to break up with her?

Basically I am thinking of breaking up with my girlfriend before the Calgary Stampede. There may be a chance we get together after but who knows.  I am sounding like a total douche but I feel like I might regret this.  Should I do it?  What is the best way to break up with her?

He Said He Said

Sounds like you are not ready to be in a longer-term relationship.  I’m a guy, I get it, especially being 19.  The Calgary Stampede, we all know the game.  Stampede is a HUGE fuck fest.  Everyone is drunk, everyone is hooking up with one or two different people PER DAY!

So if you don’t mind being a douche, and you don’t mind the possibility of never talking or being in a relationship with this girl EVER again…have fun.

IF you really like this girl and just want a break, but really want to be back with her after?  That is a much tougher case.  I say you need to commit to this girl and have a ton of fun WITH HER at Stampede.

Try new places, new things in your relationship and use stampede to solidify things.  You can still have an awesome time and have sex everyday or more… just with her!

Leaving the relationship and possibly going back, isn’t going to work, if anything it tells her that not only are you not ready for a relationship, but when you are ready, you might cheat on her anyway.

The other message you are sending is that “you’re not good enough for me”.  Pretty hard blow.

I’ve been in both worlds and the best I can say is this…I’ve never had so much, and such amazing sex as I do with my current partner, and it’s because we keep respecting each other enough to get wild together, instead of getting wild elsewhere.

I say if this girl is great, you like her, it’s going well…. that’s hard to find.  Love the one you’re with.

She Said She Said

You are young and that’s a good thing.  Enjoy your time now, just let her down easy but don’t lead her on.  You will probably look like a douche and she may be mad but it’s worse if you cheat or lead her on.

The stats are not in your favor that she is “the one”.. so go to STAMPEDE.. SINGLE!

Don’t break up with her via email, text, Facebook or snap chat.. Basically stay away from technology.   Meet up with her and just explain that you are young and you are having a great time together but for right now you would prefer to be single.  Move on.

PLEASE oh PLEASE don’t drunk text her during Stampede though.  You may not get laid every night and will be tempted to text her and do a booty call… she may even try to text you.  Don’t lead her on.  Replace her name with DO NOT CONTACT so it will be a reminder to not get in contact with her.

There is no such thing as “casual” sex after you have been dating and have feelings for each other.  Someone always gets hurt.

Get your cheesy cowboy boots on and have a fun ride… and be safe.. Like don’t be an idiot and ride bareback… it NEVER ends well.   I will say a little prayer for your liver too.
