Keep Your Sweetie Impressed All Summer Long

At It’s Date Night, we are true advocates of the magical city of YYC. We love checking out new venues in and around the city and Calgary never fails to impress. There have been so many restaurants opening their doors in our fair city lately, we had to share some of our favourites.

1. Well Juicery
Opened: May 26th, 2016

1327A 9th Ave SE

Website
@welljuicery

While Well Juicery has been catering to Calgary grocers and stores for a few years now, they just recently opened their first retail location in Inglewood this May. This beautifully-decorated space will be continuing to serve all their tried and true cold pressed juices, raw food, and healthy snacks. If you’re looking to detox for that summer bod, try their signature cleanse ($60/day). Their individual juices range from $8 to $12. Whatever strikes your fancy, come by and say ‘Wello.’

2. Paper St.
Opened: May 30th, 2016
#102 630 8 Ave SW

Website

We share two passions in common with the awesome people over at Paper St.: food and travel. This new eatery on 8th Avenue SW plays on local street food from carts and stalls all around the world. Their food is somewhat familiar, somewhat foreign, somewhat surprising, but always delicious. The chicken and waffle cone on their menu is a must-try and look out for their popular Ramen Burger and KFC (“Korean Fried Cauliflower.”)

3. Una Takeaway
Opened: June 1st, 2016

618 17 Ave SW

It’s been four years in the making, and on June 1st, Una Takeaway officially unlocked their doors to the public. That means no more crazy wait times or blackout periods for your pizza cravings, but the best part of all may be Una pizza by the slice available all day long. Check out other fresh new additions to their menu like the harissa chicken sandwich and pan roasted chicken ‘wings.’

4. Flipp’n Burgers and Breakfast
Opened: June 1st, 2016

2308 4 St SW

One of our go-to burger joints in YYC has recently set up shop in Mission for their second location. They originally stole our votes with ‘The Flipp’n Burger’ in Kensington and now they’re back at it with breakfast dishes that are guaranteed to be just as delicious. Enough said, we’ll catch you on the Flipp side!

5. Little Henry
Opened: June 2nd, 2016

1209 1 St SW

Website
@tenfoothenry

On the go? Your new favourite grab-and-go location, Little Henry, is now geared up and ready for business. Their menu is packed with salads, sandwiches, soups, and pastries that are guaranteed to hit the spot and beat the hanger on the busiest days. They’ve also got a wicked coffee shop that will keep you buzzing happily throughout your day.

6. Analog Coffee, Bow Valley Square
Opened: June 6th, 2016
205 5 Ave SW

Website
@analogcoffeeyyc

Analog Coffee’s welcomed the crowds to their newest location in the heart of downtown Calgary in Bow Valley Square on June 6th. While they’ll be continuing to serve up Fratello Coffee, food and pastries from Corbeaux Bakery will also be featured in case you’ve been missing your favourites. Coffee bundt cake and raspberry tarts? Yes please! Stop by and show their new location some love. They’re open Monday to Friday from 7 am ‘til 4 pm.

7. Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey
Opened: June 9th, 2016
1136 Kensington Rd NW

Website
@haydenblockyyc

Located in the heart of Kensington, Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Serving up Texas-style barbecue and sides, hand-crafted cocktails from an extensive list of whiskey and spirits, cold brews, and an incredible wine list, Hayden Block is guaranteed to delight. Join them in their beautiful restaurant or take it outside to their backyard Whiskey Garden to soak up some of those summer rays.

8. Trolley 5 Restaurant & Brewery
Opening: June 2016
728 17th Ave SW

Website
@trolley_5

The much-anticipated Trolley Five Restaurant & Brewery is set to open its doors this June. Named after the historic streetcar that ran through the Beltline, this eatery is committed to bringing the community together through delicious food, refreshing beer, and the best of friends. The brew pub takes the place of Melrose Cafe on Calgary’s Red Mile and will offer a casual and comfortable place to enjoy cold brews and a full-service menu. (Hint: that means comfort food and lots of Southern BBQ.) We can hardly wait.
