Roses are red, violets are blue. Date nights in the city are cool and so are you (yes, we went there). Leave it to the month of February to bring lots of love, snow, travel, midterms, and hopefully tons of chocolate to our lives.

From sipping on wine at Winefest to trivia nights galore, we’ve got what you need to make chapter two of twelve the best one yet. Here are 32 things you need to get a pulse on in YYC this February:

1. Whales | Tohorā Exhibit

This whale-y impressive exhibit is included in your admission fee to Telus Spark, so there’s no reason not to check it out. Whales | Tohorā has been touring across North America for the last 10 years and Calgary is the last stop on our continent. As an added bonus you’ll learn a thing or two about the biggest mammals living in our oceans, key facts that you can use when you’re on your next Tinder date.

2. Twelfth Night

The perfect date night out. Watch as twins Viola and Sebastian are separated in a shipwreck and forced to find their way in a strange new land on their own. Fortunately, Illyria holds much misadventure, love, and laughter for them both. Hot chocolate lovers rejoice! February comes with cold AF temperatures and what goes well with frosty fingertips? All the hot beverages you can ask for. Join in on the friendly competition to find Calgary’s Best Hot Chocolate and visit the various local venues participating in the festival. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase will be donated to support Calgary Meals on Wheels.

 

 

4. February Cats & Yoga

This is a one of a kind show featuring some of Canada’s most coveted ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tap and ballroom dancers, which is meant to celebrate the winter blues (and more particularly, lift our audience’s collective spirit following Blue Monday). The performance is followed by a beautifully decorated gala reception with drinks, artisan hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, the proceeds of which benefit Pancreatic Cancer Canada. Everyone wears blue so you won’t have to worry about matching.

 

 

7. The Big Game

32. Speed Dating (Singles 25+)
