Don’t fret YYC, there are still weeks of summer weather left! Beat the heat by visiting one of these local swimming holes, whether you’re looking for a cold beverage or cute park to explore. Soak up that last bit of summer by throwing on your favourite bikini, a cool pair of shades and hitting the town for a quick dip. Here are four of our favourite spots:

1. Poolside by Hotel Arts

Pretend you’re in Vegas without leaving the city. This chic swimming pool located downtown is complete with lounge chairs, posh cocktails, funky beats and all the social elite you can fathom. This urban oasis is open from 7am until dusk, welcoming you with warm water, all-day dining and complete, utter relaxation.

2. Bowness Park Wading Pool & Lagoon

Stroll around the park, rent canoes on the lagoon and then take a dip in the nearby wading pool – just enough to cool you down before repeating the process. Bowness Park has wide-open green spaces ready for you to explore by foot, bike, scooter, skateboard – you name it – and then finish off your trip with a cooling soak in their crystal clear wading pool open from 9am-9pm.

3. Sikome Lake

This man-made lake found in Fish Creek Park is a hot spot each summer. For only $0-10/person for a day pass, you can sink your toes into the sand, float on your pineapple inflatable, dine on beachy convenience foods and lounge in the sun to continue working on that summer tan. Open daily from 10:30am-6pm, make the most of your money and pack for a full day trip – you’ll thank yourself later.

4. Riley Park Outdoor Wading Pool

Take a stroll through Riley Park, smell the flowers and end up at their large wading pool. Sprawl out by the water’s edge to soak up those rays and hop in for a quick dip when you need to cool down. Close to the communities of Kensington, Hillhurst and Sunnyside, there are plenty of coffee shops, stores, food and clothing boutiques for you to explore pre- and post-swim, open between 9am-9pm.
