September feels like the end of the summer and for many, it can feel like the end of all the fun the year has to offer. Back to school, back to work and back to the grind. We pack away our pool floaties, we have no more lake day plans and the watermelon-flavoured beverages go back into hibernation until next year.
Lucky for you – we have done our research and have found a few exciting activities and events for Calgary this September to keep the exciting dates alive as the leaves start to turn.
1. Backstage with the Bees
September 11th, 1:00-4:00pm
September 25th, 1:00-4:00pm
Make honey with your honey! In this 3 hour immersive experience with Chinook Honey Company, you will learn all about the secret life of bees, how to be a beekeeper, while overlooking a view of the rockies from the foothills.
The tickets are $94.95/person which includes 3 hours of hands-on learning, a memento from your visit as well as a delicious snack and sampling of their mead, made right on-site!
2. Fahr Brewery Oktoberfest
September 17-18
Fahr Beer is an award-winning brewery in Turner Valley and they are bringing an authentic German Oktoberfest experience to us this year, which makes for such a fun september date idea!
Big beer tents, delicious german food, good fun. The tickets (get them here!) range from $23-$45 per person and includes entry to the festival, a stein glass to take home, entertainment as well as food and beer – of course!
3. YYC Pizza Week
September 17-26th
In 2014, YYC Pizza Week was founded as a way to spread some love with everyone’s favourite food – pizza. Local restaurants participate by crafting an original creation to enter in a competition to be named Calgary’s best pizza. With every purchase from the feature pies, a portion of the proceeds goes to Calgary Meals on Wheels to support the needs of Calgarians. In the past 6 years, over $50,000 has been contributed! That’s a lot of pizza.
Take your pie-loving date and keep your eyes out leading up to September 17th to find out where to head to join in the festivities and support a worth – and delicious – cause.
4. Maritime Lobster Boil at Rodney’s Oyster House
Thursday, September 23rd, 6:00pm
On Thursday, September 23rd, Rodney’s Oyster House is hosting their Maritime Lobster Boil. Tickets are $75 per person and include a welcome pint of Alexander Keith’s, as well as a 1.25 lb lobster flown in from Misty Harbour, New Brunswick, as well as corn on the cob, potato salad and some fresh apple pie! Enjoy live music as you get a taste of the east coast, right here in YYC.

5. DandyFest at Dandy Brewery
September 23-25th
One of the best breweries in the city, Dandy Brewing Co. is hosting Dandy Fest, a celebration of beer, food, art and music, over the weekend of September 23-25th.
September 23rd will be a 4-course dinner created by Chef Merritt Gordon! The dishes are expertly paired with local beers. The tickets are $75 per person – includes the 4-courses, 4 beer pairings and gratuity. Get the tickets here!
The festivities on the 24th will be a Cask Party! For $5 a ticket for entry, this is the perfect casual date night out with delicious beers and some great tunes. 5 unique casts will be on the bar from local Calgary brewery friends, for just $5 a pout! Tickets here!
The main event will take place on Saturday, September 25th, and is currently sold out – but make sure to visit on the 23rd or 24th to still experience the exciting event in all it’s glory!
