The wait is finally over, Cilantro will be re-opening this Friday. A 17th Ave classic and a YYC essential, Cilantro will be bringing back their OG vibes with good food and warm atmosphere with a fresh look. Not to mention they’ll be celebrating their 30th birthday! Thirty, flirty and thriving, we’re pumped to have Cilantro back in the game. Get your party hat on and help us celebrate their reopening and their 30th birthday. We’ve compiled a list of five things to get hyped about:
RENOVATIONS
Cozy up to your date with the transformation of the restaurant’s main floor. The cozy, yet casual feel includes new banquet seating, wood tables and vintage, yet chic light fixtures. The new transformation is a game changer but still holds on to what we loved most about Cilantro’s rustic character and charm.
NEW MENU
Let your taste buds feast on their revived menu. Chef Lancelot Monteiro is moving away from the South Western California fare to more Canadiana and casual style menu incorporating more elk and bison from CRMR’s own game ranch. Fear not, the flatbreads and pastas will still be there, but infused with CRMR’s Rocky Mountain Cuisine. They’re also offering gluten free options.
BITES AND SIPS
Nightly features have been added from Tuesday to Friday for you to pair carefully crafted libations with tasty bites. Head down to Cilantro on Tuesday for classic cocktails with a twist for $8; mixed by Mike Squires, you won’t be disappointed. On Wednesday, try out the chef’s feature pasta. Thursday night bring your girls for a charcuterie board and two glasses of wine for only $30 and on Fridays Brad Royale will be opening a rare bottle of wine every week. No one will judge if you show up every night.
FLAMES GAMES
Headed to the game but want to indulge in something a little more satisfying than a Saddledome pocket dog? On games nights, Cilantro will be offering a Till the Puck Drops feature that includes a 6 inch pizza and a glass of house wine or beer for $20. Extra points if you’re wearing your jersey.
TURNING 30
Reaching 30 is a huge milestone for everyone, restaurants included. In a city that loves change and new things, Cilantro has settled into Calgary’s classics adding to what defines our city’s food culture. 17th Ave just wouldn’t be the same without it. Cheers to thirty years of food and memories, and to thirty more.
