Brunch enthusiasts, mark your calendars! National Mimosa Day is May 16th and we for one can’t wait to celebrate with a boozy brunch date. This classic brunch cocktail is equal parts brut champagne and fruit juice (typically orange juice) and is the perfect addition to yummy brunch staples like pancakes and eggs benny.

There’s tons of reasons to go out on brunch dates: get togethers with friends, family gatherings, or even a morning-after date. And Halifax has some of the best spots, no matter your taste! After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Read on for 5 of our favourite boozy brunch date spots to add your foodie bucket list.

When: Saturday & Sunday, 11-4

Where: 1685 Argyle St

Lot Six Bar & Restaurant is a must-visit for mimosa lovers! For only $20, you can enjoy bottomless mimosas during their weekend brunch service alongside incredible dishes such as Eggs Benedict, Lobster Croquettes, and a Steak & Egg Burrito.

Grab a seat on their patio when the sun is shining or sit indoors in their verdant atrium.

When: Monday & Wednesday-Friday 10-4, Saturday-Sunday 9-4

Where: 1496 Lower Water St

If you’re planning on exploring the Halifax Waterfront during the day, Black Sheep Restaurant is the place to start. They create exquisite food and drinks from scratch using ingredients that are locally sourced and globally inspired.  With the weather warming up, you can even snag a spot on their seasonal rooftop patio and bar!

Brunch is our favourite time to visit this local restaurant because they do it SO well! You can enjoy their brunch service 6 days a week with mimosas, along with other breakfast drinks, and unique plates such as Beef Shakshouka and Duck Poutine.

When: Wednesday-Friday 9:30-2, Saturday-Sunday 9:30-3

Where: 5659 Almon St

If you’re looking for a fantastic brunch spot in the north end, Almonak is where it’s at. This restaurant specializes in all things brunch so you already know it’s going to be amazing. Some of our favourite dishes we’ve tried include the Dirty Rice (which is also a staff fave!) and the Farmer’s Breakfast.

Now I know we’re talking about boozy brunches here and Almonak offers not one, not two, but three different mimosas on their menu! If you’re having a hard time deciding which one you want to try, they also offer a mimosa flight where you can try all three in smaller servings.

When: Saturday-Sunday, 11-3

Where: 1333 South Park St

Le Bistro by Liz is a charming French bistro located in the south end that is the perfect spot to visit for a date. The decor, vibe, and charm of this local restaurant screams romance! Everything on the menu sounds absolutely delicious but we can personally vet for their Croque Monsieur and Classic Oeufs Bénédictine with Smoked Country Ham, which are both out of this world.

All brunch entrées also include a complimentary mimosa, bloody mary, caesar, or juice which is a nice treat!

When: Saturday-Sunday, 11:30-3

Where: 1726 Argyle St

A tasty brunch with happy hour prices?! Sign us up! At Auction House, you can enjoy mimosas and caesars for only $3.50 during their weekend brunch service. They have so many mouth-watering dishes from S’more Pancakes to Chicken & Waffles to a Mac & Cheese Benny. This is a restaurant that will be on your go-to list time and time again.
