1. Riverdale Season 2 Premiere

The much anticipated season 2 of Riverdale is finally here. Archie and the gang are back for another season – this one has 22 episodes, 9 more than last season so you have an extra 9 weeks of counting down the minutes until the next episode. The last season ended with Mr. Andrews getting shot in Pop’s, so the next season will start off there in what’s sure to be an intense, eerie and dramatic season.

You can catch it on Netflix at home or if you’re looking for a little Archie-themed outing, Boogie’s Burgers in Marda Loop is transforming their restaurant into Pop’s Chok’lit Shoppe tonight and tomorrow and you’ll be able to watch the first episode with your fellow Riverdale friends.

2. Harvey Weinstein

Last week the first sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein were brought to the public’s attention, since then, many women have come forward echoing stories of harassment and assault. Weinstein was one of the biggest movie producers and film studio executives in the world and had been getting away with his behaviour for the last decade. Investigations have found that there have been at least eight settlements with different women including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rose McGowan who has been very open on Twitter about the situation unfolding. So vocal that her Twitter account got shut down – and reactivated once the Tweets that violated Twitter’s rules were deleted.

The NYPD announced they will be conducting their own criminal investigation and are looking for any additional complaints. Weinstein was fired from the company that he co-founded and his wife of ten years announced that she is leaving him.

3. California Fires

The wildfires that started Sunday night are wreaking havoc across Northern California. There have been at least 23 deaths, more than 285 people are missing and over 3,500 structures destroyed. The fires spread rapidly on Sunday with winds over 70mph. The winds have been okay throughout the week but are expected to pick up again to 60mph tomorrow night which could spread the flames even more and with no rain in sight, things are looking dire. About 8,000 firefighters have been working tirelessly to try to get the fire under control – 191,000 acres have been burned throughout the state. So many homes have been destroyed and more people are still being forced to evacuate in the fear of the fire spreading.

4. Star Wars Trailer #2 Released

The new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jei was released on Sunday during Monday Night Football’s halftime show. Fans were pumped to see more of what is to come in December when the 8th Star Wars film is released. However, the director Rian Johnson went on Twitter to warn hardcore fans that they may want to avoid the new trailer to preserve all the film’s surprises. But for the less hardcore fans, the anticipation for the upcoming film is in full Jedi force.

5. MLB Playoffs

The Yankees emerged as the underdog on Wednesday night beating out the Cleaveland Indians 5-2 in Game 5 of the series. The Yankees came back from a 2-0 deficit that proved the haters wrong and threw a wrench into the Indian’s pride. The Yankees will take on the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series starting Friday night at Minute Maid Park. Up tonight, the Chicago Cubs will take on the Washington Nationals in Game 5 of their series, with the winner advancing to the AL Championship Series.
