As the holiday season approaches, Ottawa is preparing to transform into a festive winter wonderland! Holiday markets will be coming to life over the next few weeks, filling the air with enchanting scents of freshly baked goods and the joyful sounds of carolers. Local markets are the perfect way to discover unique gifts, savour delectable seasonal treats, and connect with the local community.

To get into the holiday spirit, we’ve rounded up 7 charming holiday markets in and around Ottawa for you to explore this season.

Located in Lansdowne, the Ottawa Christmas Market is one of the most visited holiday markets in the Ottawa region. Plan a Hallmark movie-like date beneath thousands of twinkling Christmas lights and decorations accompanied by holiday entertainment, local flavours, and of course, some holiday shopping! 

There will be over 45 local vendors offering everything from holiday gifts, traditional Christmas-themed items, and unique food and beverage options. There are also plans to expand the Market this year with even more cabins, attractions, and entertainment!

Some date night activities that you can look forward to at the Market include Christmas Crafts & Cocktails, the Christmas Tree Lighting, Dancer’s DJ Skate Nights, Hockey Games, and a Silent Disco Night. 

When: November 24-26, and December 1-3, 8-10, 15-17, and 20-23

Where: Aberdeen Plaza at 1015 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario

Cost: Entry into the Market is free, however some activities are paid and/or require registration

Shop local this holiday season at the Metcalfe Christmas Farmers’ Market! Each of the 50 local vendors makes, creates, or bakes all of their products. There will also be free parking and live music! 

For a cute lunch date, visit the market and enjoy one of their hot prepared meals onsite.

When: November 18 & December 16 from 9:00 am. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: Greely Community Centre at 1448 Meadow Drive, Greely, Ontario

Cost: Entry into the Market is free 

Find the perfect gift for everyone on your list at Manotick’s Christmas Market! Over 30 vendors will be set up each weekend in two historic buildings.

If you enjoy a good book, be sure to stop by their Used Book Store during your visit to discover your next favourite read! 

When: November 18-19, 25-26, and December 2-3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where: 5525 Dickinson Street & 1127 Mill Street in Manotick, Ontario

Cost: Admission into the Market is by donation (suggested amount is $2)

The Barrhaven Christmas Farmers’ Market will bring together over 50 local vendors! Explore great products from the Market’s regular vendors along with wonderful Christmas gifts from crafters. There will also be lots of yummy baked goods and desserts for your holiday entertaining! 

When: November 18 & 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: 670 Cedarview Road, Nepean, Ontario

Cost: Entry into the Market is free

Baby Mama Hustle Events will be hosting a two-day Christmas market in the Lansdowne Horticulture Building

Explore different vendors each day and enjoy swag bags, door prizes, photo ops, and a play zone and photos with Santa for the kids! 

When: December 2-3 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where: 1525 Princess Patricia Way, Ottawa, Ontario

Shop thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts at 613flea’s highly-anticipated annual holiday marketplace!

The Holiday Night Market is 613flea’s largest event of the year that features tons of local vendors offering antiques, vintage clothing, baked goods, handmade crafts, jewelry, unique holiday items, and so much more.

When: December 1, 8, 15 & 22

Where: Aberdeen Pavillion, Ottawa, Ontario

Cost: Entry to the Market is free

The Originals Christmas Craft Sale features the work of of over 170 artists, artisans, makers, and designers. Shop thousands of expertly curated Canadian handmade products that are made consciously and with love.

You can even find gift suggestions on their website that are categorized by product type. There’s something for every budget and interest!

Cost: Tickets start at $6.50 and Ages 17 and Under are free
