Escape your in-laws and out of town family for a night or two and take your bae to one of the newest spots in YYC this holiday season. We’re having major FOMO on the latest restaurants and bars that have popped up around the city and we want to make sure you know about them. Whether you’re into carefully curated cocktails or a vibrant atmosphere, we’ve compiled a list of places to hit up to make your date think you’re cool AF.

Belle

Appeal to your man’s meat instincts with a twist on BBQ at Belle on 4th Street. They’re serving up BBQ classics and smoked delights, brown booze and good vibes.

Donna Mac

Head to the Beltline for new neighbourhood cuisine in a stunning new spot based on simple and seasonal tastes. The family inspired restaurant embraces the mantra that ‘ever changing’ is the only constant.

Tea House

Head to the basement of Two Penny and enter arguably one of the coolest bars in Calgary rn. Chow down on mouth watering dim sum while sipping a witty-named cocktail and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Wednesday Room

It’s not just open on Wednesdays and is definitely the place to be on Stephen Ave every night of the week. The space is reminiscent of a sophisticated 60’s lounge and your uncle’s electric basement and creates serious FOMO on Instagram.

Bar Annabelle

Come for the wine, fine whiskey and tapas and stay for the intimate vibe. The little sister of Blink is making a name for herself with an imaginative wine list and fine Japanese whiskey. Sip on libations while listing to vintage records.

Shelter YYC

Seek refuge in this cozy, intimate space. You can’t miss the unique art installation on the roof featuring 5,000 individually hanging light bulbs. Bring your boo and sip on pre-prohibition style libations with cutting-edge, experimental cocktail technology.
