Adulting 101: Budgeting

Help me I'm poor

You know when people tell you if you just didn’t buy Starbucks every day you could put that money towards something that actually matters like a vacation or a gym membership? But then you buy the $5 latte anyways and let tomorrow deal with the consequences of living in a constant “help me I’m poor” situation. We’ve all been there. Budgeting can be hard in these instant gratification times; when heading on a three month backpacking trip seems a lot more fun than saving for a new car. When buying the latest phone, takes priority over eating a well rounded diet (no, instant noodles are not good for you.)

Budgeting is about making a priority list of the things you need and want in your life. Keeping rent, food and savings up there is probably a good idea. There isn’t a worse feeling than getting to the end of the month realizing you’re not going to be able to pay rent. WHERE DID MY MONEY GO? Shit happens and there’s no time like right now to get your dolla bills in order. Life isn’t all about money, but it definitely helps when you aren’t stressing about bills and debt and can treat yo self to some of the nicer things in life.

There are apps, programs, websites and plain ol’ excel sheets that can make organizing your financial situation a lot easier, but where do you start? How do you get out of these bad money spending habits? Adulting is hard and we don’t want you to have to do it alone. Join us and  ATB Financial for a drink or two + some snacks and learn a few things about handling yo’ money.

Come get your shit together with us and make your mama proud. Get tickets HERE.

Each attendee of Adulting 101 will be hooked up with an Adulting swag bag worth up to $50 (think, GC’s for movies and food). Plus, play Financial Feud for a chance to show off your Adulting knowledge and get your hands on 1 of 10 $25 Mastercard gift cards.
