You know when people tell you if you just didn’t buy Starbucks every day you could put that money towards something that actually matters like a vacation or a gym membership? But then you buy the $5 latte anyways and let tomorrow deal with the consequences of living in a constant “help me I’m poor” situation. We’ve all been there. Budgeting can be hard in these instant gratification times; when heading on a three month backpacking trip seems a lot more fun than saving for a new car. When buying the latest phone, takes priority over eating a well rounded diet (no, instant noodles are not good for you.)
Budgeting is about making a priority list of the things you need and want in your life. Keeping rent, food and savings up there is probably a good idea. There isn’t a worse feeling than getting to the end of the month realizing you’re not going to be able to pay rent. WHERE DID MY MONEY GO? Shit happens and there’s no time like right now to get your dolla bills in order. Life isn’t all about money, but it definitely helps when you aren’t stressing about bills and debt and can treat yo self to some of the nicer things in life.
