Here’s a Look at BC’s Top New Restaurants of the Year

Showcasing the best of new culinary talent across the country, Air Canada’s ‘Best New Restaurants’ is the longest running Canadian restaurant ranking. Every summer, they send one undercover writer on a cross-country marathon to find the latest and tastiest restaurants Canada has to offer, based on the recommendations of a coast-to-coast panel of food experts.

The list for 2024, that highlights 30 restaurants in 18 different cities from coast-to-coast, has been revealed at last. In British Columbia, seven amazing restaurants have made the list and we’re 100% adding them to our dinner date bucket list!

Here are British Columbia’s best new restaurants for the year!

Cafe Malabar

Where: 1701 Douglas St #6, Victoria

A delightful fusion of traditional Malabar cuisine & modern culinary creations, a popular dish is the Kerala Indian lunch where the spices and influences come from Sri Lanka, Syria and the Kerala region of India.

Tradish’s The Ancestor Cafe

Where: 23433 Mavis Ave, Fort Langley

Tradish brings Traditional Indigenous nourishment to urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous health conscience people while supporting Indigenous food sovereignty, culture and community.

Bravo

Where: 4194 Fraser St, Vancouver

A seafood-forward cocktail & wine bar in Vancouver’s Fraserhood area. A fresh new approach to oysters, dry-aged fish, house pasta’s & libations.

Dovetail

Where: 1079 Mainland St, Vancouver

A Californian inspired spot of shareable plates, cocktails and good vibes. The whole concept behind the restaurant was to bring to life the owners’ experiences, to the seasonal fresh produce that brings together their menu of family style shared plates.

Elio Volpe

Where: 540 W 17th Ave, Vancouver

Elio Volpe is a contemporary osteria serving seasonal fare embracing the flavours of Italy’s many varied regions with an emphasis on the bold and bright notes of the south: sunkissed, seafaring, laid back and fresh.

Gary’s

Where: 1485 W 12th Ave, Vancouver

A neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of South Granville with an open kitchen, bar seating and a cozy dining room. Small, shareable dishes define the menu here with seasonality having a huge influence.

Lila

Where: 3941 Main St, Vancouver

Modern & sustainable Indian dining with a playful beverage program and a hidden garden patio.
