You might recognize Amy Hef from this weeks #CouplesofYYC feature. In 2012, the talented musician won AMP Radio’s Rockstar contest and proved she has what it takes to make it in the music business.
Armed with a guitar, beautiful vocals, and her partner Darya, this lady is truly unstoppable.

What age best describes you?
Closer to our 20’s then our 40’s. 🙂
How long have you been together?
We have been together for 7 years.
Where did you meet?
Funny enough, at The Calgary Stampede. Darya was there with her Mom who was visiting from Ukraine at the time and her Mom looked a lot like Lady Gaga. Amy being a huge fan of Gaga and a few beers in, stood in between Darya and her Mom and sang “Alejandro” by Gaga and somehow ended up with Darya’s phone number at the end.
What’s your favourite date to go on in YYC?
Amy is a recording artist and travels a lot for work and Darya works in financial sector here in Calgary. We like to start our date nights by connecting over a nice dinner, we love going for Oysters at Rodney’s. Then wonder out to see our friend Marks at his bar The Backlot or head over to watch live music at The Blues Can.
Do you have ‘pet names’ or nicknames for each other?
Yes we do, but to save us from being made fun of by our friends we’ll keep them to ourselves.
Best relationship advice?
What works for us is encouraging each of us to be continue being ourselves individually and growing as individuals together. Always allowing each other to be ourselves together.
