Meet local couple Amy (@amy_elizabeth_marie) and Ryan. The couple is an IRL Tinder success story and with their sweet pictures and #relationshiptalk, we can easily see the connection between them. We caught up with the couple to learn more about them and we’re sure glad we did. Read on to get to learn more about Amy and Ryan.
How long have you been together?
We have been together 2 1/2 years (1 year dating, 6 months engaged, 1 year married!). Feels like a lot longer, but in the best possible way.
How did you meet?
We met on Tinder! It should be mentioned Amy super liked Ryan and he only regular liked her back….
If you could choose two celebrities to play yourselves in a movie, who would you choose and why? What would the movie be about?
Amy: Zooey Deschanel. We have been watching New Girl a lot – she is hilarious and bubbly and slightly overdramatic which are all attributes we share.
Ryan: Jason Statham. He didn’t have a choice as he slightly resembles him, if Jason were more tan.
The plot of the movie would probably involve a heist/robbery/kidnapping. There would be a lot of fast cars, explosions and fight scenes. (Any guesses as to what type of movies we enjoy?)
What are your top 3 date spots in Calgary?
1. Vin Room : this is where we had our first “real date”
2. Saddledome : Ryan is a huge hockey fan
3. Heritage Pointe Golf Course.
If one of your favourite artists were to write a song about you, what would it be called and why?
It would probably be called “What Are The Odds?” our relationship and marriage has been filled with amazing coincidences and sometimes we stop and ask ourselves that. There is literally no other explanation other than fate.
What would your advice be on how to overcome challenges in a relationship?
Always speak more kindly to your significant other than you do to anyone else, especially during tense moments. Respect is key.
What superpower does your partner have?
Amy: Ryan is the most charming person I have ever met. With everyone. He has this ability to really tune in when he is speaking to you so you feel like you have his undivided attention. People feel very heard and valued when speaking to him.
Ryan: Amy is very objective and a great person to help you see things from another perspective. I attribute it to her legal background but she is a great mediator and is able to help those around her focus on the big picture result.
How has It’s Date Night helped improve your relationship both with the city and as a couple?
It helps us to look forward to things and provide fresh ideas. We are constantly updating our “things to do” list and It’s Date Night has added quite a few items to that list. Next up: Modern Steak Wednesday date night!
