Family-Friendly Date Ideas in Quebec City

Let's keep it real and agree that dates are never the same again once you have kids. But it doesn't mean the dates have to be over.

When planning date nights and weekend adventures with the family, you’re going to have to shift what you used to do. This doesn’t mean it has to be less fun, just different.

So here are some family-friendly date ideas in Quebec City that will keep every one happy:

Walking Tour of Old Quebec City

It’s time for a history lesson with quaint streets and little local shops replacing the history book. Walk around the UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire the ancient walls and colorful architecture. Depending on the age of your kids, you might want to join a tour or make your own way around the town that feels like a fairytale.

Fall For Each Other Again

The gorgeous Montmorency Falls at the Parc de la Chute-Montmorency are a sight to behold. Even higher than Niagara Falls, this natural beauty has to be seen to be believed. Ride the cable car to the peak and get a better view by walking down the nearly 500 stairs (this part is optional).

Eat Ice Cream at Chocolato

Of course, the kids will want vanilla or chocolate in a cone like always, but you can go crazy with ice cream sandwiches, homemade gelato, or a fruit and chocolate fondue. It’s the sweetest treat in town and the perfect way to end a day of touring Quebec City.

Visit the Museum of Civilization

Interactive exhibits about science and cultural history will keep the whole entertained as they learn at the same time. The Discovery Zone has children’s activities and they can dress up in historic outfits while you take their photos.

Ride the Quebec City-Levis Ferry

It’s fun to ride the ferry across the St. Lawrence River and since there are some perks to letting the kids join your date, their ride is free if they are five or under. You still have to pay for the 12-minute journey that is scenic and gives a fresh perspective of the city.

See the changing of the guard at La Citadelle de Quebec

Who needs Buckingham Palace when you can see the changing of the guard ceremony at La Citadelle de Quebec? Seeing the uniformed guards marching in uniform with the 300-year-old fort in the background is really exciting. But the highlight might be the unusual sight of a goat in tow, which also gets dressed up for the traditional occasion.

Indulge in dinner at Nina Pizza Napolitaine

You had the ice cream and now it is time for pizza. The kids are probably ruling your date and will want pizza for sure. At Nina Pizza Napolitaine, there are pizzas for the kids and adults. Or you can all share if your kids have exotic taste that goes beyond spaghetti sauce and cheese. Watch your pizzas cooking in the wood-burning oven and let the anticipation build!

You can find Nina Pizza Napolitaine in Saint-Roch or Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

Dates after kids come along need some careful planning. Even if you can snag a babysitter, you might be too tired to go further than your favourite restaurant around the corner. But taking the little angels along with you is one of the best ways to have fun and create memories. So bring on the dates and don’t forget the wet wipes and snacks.

Make sure to bring the datenight game along to keep the conversation flowing and growing.
