We know a first date can be intimidating.
Sitting across the table from someone you just met and holding a conversation can be daunting for some. Try these fun date ideas to get to know the person in a more relaxed way!
2. Get your steps in
The Edmonton River Valley has a ton of trails to explore and views of the river to be taken in. Most people are a lot more relaxed on a date when they are active and not simply sitting across from the person. With the fall upon on the colours will make for a gorgeous backdrop to a successful first date!
You could even meet up for a dog walk! Somehow having that neutral 3rd party of the dog makes things less awkward, and gives you something to chat about.
4. Strikeout in bowling and not in dating
Experience the state-of-the-art electric Sodi race karts in one of North America’s only indoor three-level race track located right in WEM! These aren’t the little carts from back in the day, these are a whole new level! The track is New York Streets themed and is sure to get the adrenaline pumping!
8882 170 St NW #1824, Edmonton, AB T5T 4M2 (West Edmonton Mall)
6. Turn back time
Take a ride into history on The High Level Bridge Streetcar. The ride takes you along former Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) trackage, from Edmonton’s historic Old Strathcona area, through the only CPR Tunnel built east of the Canadian Rockies, and across the High Level Bridge into Edmonton’s Downtown. During the Fall, streetcars operate Friday through Sunday, up to (and including!) Thanksgiving Monday, October 11th, 11:00 am – 4:20 pm (except Saturdays, which operates 9:00 am – 4:20 pm).
Once downtown the possibilities are endless!
Age 6 and over: $7.00 (round-trip) or $4.00 (one-way)
Age 5 and under (non-groups): Free!
Age 5 and under (groups): $7.00 (round-trip) or $4.00 (one-way)
Family: $25.00 (round-trip)
7. Escape the awkward
Escape rooms are ever-popular, and for good reason. They are fun! YEG has a ton of options located within the city that you could choose from for your first (or second 😉 date). This type of date allows you to see how you work as a team and problem solve in a cool low stress way.
Break the ice with dinner and games at Greta Bar downtown. Greta has everything from vintage arcade games to classics like pac man. With a full menu and bar, this date is bound to be a fun one!
Snow Valley Adventure Park is sure to get the adrenaline pumping (not for the faint at heart!). Climb higher, faster, wider than ever before! There are 100 different ‘games’/’obstacles’ to tackle on course and whole lot of fun to be had! Be sure to book tickets ahead of time!
Address: 13204 Rainbow Valley Rd NW, Edmonton
10. Pack a picnic
There are a ton of parks throughout the city with rolling grassy spaces, ponds, river views, cool lookouts, and cook stoves. Pack a basket to make your own charcuterie, snacks, drinks (some parks even allow alcohol now!), a blanket, and pillows.
