Hanging Out at Calgary’s F’n Cool Hotel Arts

Hotel Arts is the perfect stay for locals and tourists alike. Here's why.
Hotel Arts

My wife and I are having a baby. Which means that, on top of everything that needs to be done before her arrival, we had to go on a brilliant babymoon.

The purpose of a babymoon? To my understanding, it’s a type of a trip you take before adding another human to your roster. The concept always seemed silly to me. It probably still does. But whatever the reason was for this vacation, I was down to take my baby mama on a little getaway.

The rooms at Hotel Arts each have a beautiful view

There are a few things you need to think of when planning an epic babymoon.

First, you need to know how long your trip is going to be. Which will determine how long you want to travel. Which will help determine the destination. You get it.

We decided to stay in Canada, and to head over to Calgary. It is somewhere we both love.

The next big piece to the planning puzzle is figuring out your accommodations.

Finding the perfect babymoon locale

Finding a spot was a little difficult. I needed a property that allowed me to both work and play. When I found Hotel Arts in Downtown Calgary, I knew I had hit the j-a-c-k-p-o-t.

Located in the heart of the action, let me just say, this hotel is really f*cking cool.

As Baby Mama requested…

From the minute we walked in, we were captivated by the unique aesthetic and the welcoming staff. The all-around good energy, too.

The rooms were clean. They were well-decorated. The beds were comfortable.

These are the things my very-pregnant wife asked for when booking this voyage.

As we discovered more and more of the property, we eventually found ourselves growing aware of how happy everyone looked around us. Then it clicked. We were close to the killer pool and patio area. That’s the reason everyone was so damn excited.

Let the Splashing Commence!

It’s fall, but Hotel Arts sorta gave us a taste of what an endless summer might feel like. The poolside space is open year-round. That’s correct. Located in downtown Calgary, there is a killer pool that you can check out all… year… round.

After working up an appetite in the pool, we had to check out Calgary’s quote-unquote Best Brunch at Yellow Door Bistro, which is also part of the hotel. Think Instagrammable dishes that taste just as good as they look. (So good that we even came back for dinner!)

Hotel Arts has a year round pool and an amazing poolside menu.

Good food was another “request” (ahem, demand) the wifey had, but it was a mutual one. I was pumped that the place offered so many great options to fit our many cravings.

I’m not going to lie. After experiencing a babymoon for myself, I now understand the appeal. It was a major success.

Hotel Arts deserves a lot of the thanks, especially considering we weren’t able to be as mobile as usual. We simply needed a great home base.

We sure got that!
