Is it just us, or did we go from being hermits during lockdown to super social creatures since the province re-opened?! It’s more important now than ever that we make time for ourselves! This is our guide on how to have the perfect solo date in Ottawa that will leave you feeling both enlightened but also relaxed.
First up, java!
We know that you are all caffeine hounds! So in order for your day to be perfect it must start with the perfect cup of coffee. The first stop on our tour is Planet Coffee. In addition to their amazing coffee, they also have yummy food and desserts – like this chocolate caramel skor cake!
Time to pamper yourself.
Pamper yourself in any of the following ways:
- Buy a cute new outfit from the CF Rideau Centre.
- Treat yourself to a fresh new haircut from Hair Republic salon.
- Get a fresh fade from House of Barons.
- Go for a massage or facial treatment at York Street Spa.
- Purchase a new pair of designer sunnies from I See Optometry.
Next is lunch!
It’s no secret that there are a ton of restaurants to choose from in the Byward Market. However, we have two favourite stops for a delicious lunch. First up is La Bottega, known for their mouth-watering sandwiches and endless treats that you’d find in any Italian corner store. The other restaurant is Lollo Salads & Coffee, known for their amazing salads and homemade dressing!
After lunch we explore.
Exploring can look different for everyone. Here are some of our favourite ways to explore downtown:
- National Gallery of Canada
- Ottawa Art Gallery
- ByTowne Cinema
- Haunted Walk tour
- Rideau Canal walk
- Bank Street mural tour
- Walk across Alexandra Bridge
Make your way to dinner!
After all of that exploring you have definitely worked up an appetite. Head over to Ottawa staple El Camino for the best tacos in town! They have appetizers, a variety of tacos, churros, and the best margaritas in town! We also highly recommend their Mexican corn which is a seasonal item (so get it while you can)!
Finish off with a sunset session.
The perfect way to cap off your amazing solo day is by catching a sunset from Major’s Hill Park. Bring along a picnic blanket, a beverage, and some warm layers for the chilly fall evenings. Watch the sun set behind Gatineau and illuminate the Parliament building skyline. It is without a doubt one of the most peaceful and beautiful things we’ve experienced in Ottawa.
So there you have it! This short little guide is how to have the perfect solo date in Ottawa. If you’ve ever been to any of these spots let us know in the comments. We would love to hear from you guys!
Happy adventuring!
