A Stay at Kimpton Saint George Blends Art, Comfort, and a Prime Location

The Kimpton Saint George is a boutique hotel located in Toronto’s iconic Yorkville neighbourhood filled with culture, art, and spirit. We recently had the pleasure of having our August staycation here, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish.

A look inside

Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by how stunning the foyer was designed. Lined with gorgeous art, the vibrant and eclectic pieces create a unique atmosphere that feels both inviting and inspiring.

This extends to every part of the hotel, and each piece is thoughtfully chosen to complement the hotel’s stylish decor, adding an extra layer of interest to the stay.

A recent addition to the Kimpton‘s art collection is “Oasis”, a specially commissioned art piece by Kanna Anigbogu, an Igbo-Nigerian artist based out of Toronto, to add to the large collection of Canadian art featured throughout the hotel.

Kanna’s art fuses movement, playful experimentation, Igbo inspiration, and mystery to express imaginative tales that are full of mood and feeling. Check this piece out on the main floor in the hallway leading to the Peregrine room.

Rooms

Comfort is clearly no afterthought. We were greeted by elegant furnishings and some fun interactive pieces like a classic polaroid camera and a record player with a few hits to choose from.

The in-suite amenities were amazing, including a lovely bathroom, and thoughtful touches like robes, yoga mats, and umbrellas for guests that were much needed given the unpredictable weather in the city this year.

Our favourite part of the room however was the bed. I don’t think we’ve slept that well in months and we almost didn’t check out the morning after!

The artistic feel continues into the bedrooms with one-of-a-kind, hand-dipped, metal, wall pieces by Ottawa artist and designer Laura Langford, and you can also play a little game because hidden in your room is a sculpture of a White Squirrel – a nod to Toronto’s infamous albino white squirrels found specifically in Trinity Bellwoods park. Next time you visit, see if you can spot yours!

Guest services

The guest services team was exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always ready with a recommendation or assistance.

Their local knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile made me feel well taken care of throughout my stay, and to top it off, they also include a list of items they keep stocked at the hotel that a staff member will deliver to your door free of charge like lip balms, curling irons, or kettles.

Amenities

The Kimpton is fully equipped with the classic amenities you’d expect from a hotel of this calibre like a fitness centre, and same day laundry and dry cleaning, along with some unique ones such as pet friendly accommodations including a complimentary Doggy Bathroom upon request and access to public use bikes and scooters so you can tour the area.

And remember that stunning foyer? It’s the perfect place to enjoy your complimentary morning coffee, afternoon iced tea, or glass of wine and pizza in the evening.

Neighbourhood

While not a direct amenity of the Kimpton, one of the highlights of the location is its proximity to the Bata Shoe Museum, which is directly across the street!

The Bata Shoe Museum regularly displays over a thousand shoes and related artefacts, chosen from a collection of nearly 15 000 objects, in architect Raymond Moriyama’s iconic, award-winning building.

The BSM celebrates the style, development and function of footwear across four impressive galleries, with displays ranging from Chinese bound-foot shoes and ancient Egyptian sandals to chestnut-crushing clogs and glamorous platforms.

Over 4,500 years of history are reflected in our permanent exhibition, All About Shoes while our three other galleries feature changing exhibitions – so there’s always something new to see.

You can learn about the artistry of shoe making and take in their interesting seasonal exhibits. It’s a delightful bonus to have such an interesting attraction so conveniently located.

They even have free admission every Sunday to explore this stylish date idea on a budget!

Overall, the Kimpton Saint George offers a blend of unique artistic flair, comfort, and superb guest services, all in a prime location.

We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto looking for a stay filled with gorgeous views, vibes, and amazing service.
