There’s something seriously special about taking the scenic route. That’s exactly what the Leduc Farm and Food Trail is all about. Think dreamy countryside views, delicious handmade treats, and stories that stick with you long after the last bite (or sip!).

From passionate makers to family-run farms, this trail is a reminder that community is built through shared stories, good food, and supporting what’s grown close to home.

We were invited to hop on one of their summer bus tours.

The trail is part of a thoughtfully curated initiative by the Leduc County Business and Entrepreneur Centre (Leduc BEC) to showcase local food producers, agri-tourism gems, and rural hospitality in the most genuine way possible. You can book an official bus tour or do a self-guided adventure with their recommended itineraries.

Either way, you’re in for a treat! Here’s what to expect on the Leduc Farm and Food Trail.

First Stop: Rise Coffee (for the soul and the caffeine)

Kick things off with a much-needed morning pick-me-up at Rise Coffee located at the Leduc BEC, a charming social enterprise operated by Riseup Society Alberta. Aside from making a solid cup of coffee, this spot gives back in a big way. 100% of proceeds go toward intimate partner violence counselling and prevention. Sipping something this good while supporting something even better? Yes please.

Rise Coffee has two sweet summer fundraisers you won’t want to miss! On August 15 & 16, shop local at Riseup’s Summer Craft Market in Nisku, then join them August 30 for a whimsical Cake Picnic. Bring a whole cake or just bring yourself and enjoy an afternoon of treats and community fun. Check their socials @risecoffeeab for all the details.

Second Stop: Mother Bakery by Chartier

Next carb load at Mother Bakery also located at the Leduc BEC, home of the famous “bread window” that started out as a happy accident. Their sourdough has a mother starter that’s over 10 years old (!!) and you can absolutely taste the love, passion, and butter in every bite. They’ve got sourdough starters available, so you can try your hand at baking your very own loaf at home!

Get your dream loaf, right on time; pre-order for pickup in Nisku or Beaumont and skip the wait! Just be sure to order at least 3 days in advance (because great fermentation takes time!).

Third Stop: Old Station Honey and Mead

Expect to get emotional on a meadery. At Old Station Mead, we met Will, the mead-maker and storyteller extraordinaire. He and his wife live less than a kilometre from the meadery, where they’ve been beekeeping, berry-growing, and pouring their hearts into every bottle. My fave? The Miquelon sparkling raspberry mead; bright, a little wild, and made with love. Bonus: we also got to snack on a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie from Fifendekel.

You can find Old Station Mead at select retail shops or order directly from them online for doorstep delivery.

Fourth Stop: Local Forage Farm Store

If cozy charm had a physical form, it would be Local Forage Farm Store. Tucked inside the Agriplex in New Sarepta, this adorable shop is all about local people supporting local people. Founders Jacqueline and Tina have created a haven for farm-fresh produce, handmade goods, and small-batch everything.

You can pre-order for pickup or shop online anytime at Local Forage to stock up on fresh, locally made goods.

Fifth Stop: Rig Hand Distillery

Next, roll into Rig Hand Distillery, for a tour, tasting, and small bites. Their iconic bottle design pays tribute to the Leduc #1 drilling rig, and their lineup of handcrafted drinks is just as memorable. Get an insider scoop on the best selling garlic Caesar; it outsells Mott’s 75 to 1.

Final Stop: Dragonfly Spirit CreeAtions

We ended the day in the most grounding, beautiful way at Dragonfly Spirit CreeAtions, a finalist for this year’s Canadian Tourism Awards. Monique; the heart and healer behind this space shared powerful stories, cultural teachings, and warm energy under the largest tipi situated on distillery land (30 feet!).

Check Dragonfly Spirit CreeAtions online for upcoming events, workshops, and wellness offerings rooted in culture, connection, and healing.
