Here are some of the best places in Halifax to find budget-friendly bites (because we all know we need a separate budget for patio drinks during the summer).

Hands holding shawarmas from Mashawee Mediterranean Grill.

$4.99 Shawarmas?! This is honestly one of the best budget-friendly bites in the city and it is SO good. On top of the delicious food, the staff are friendly and inviting which makes the atmosphere feel like you’re having a meal with family. Date Night Tip: Add the spicy sauce to your shawarma!

Budget-friendly bites from Backoos Korean Food consisting of three rice meals.

This Nova Scotian Korean restaurant chain offers tons of great traditional dishes and their rice meals are such a steal at $9.99! Recommended dishes: Chicken Combo, Bul-Gogi Combo & Bibim Bap.

Budget-friendly bites from The Roxbury consisting of tacos and fries.

To start, every food item on their menu is only $6! If that’s not enough to get this restaurant on your favourites list, they also offer daily drink deals including 3 for $15 jagerbombs everyday!

A single Taiyaki pictured with coffee.

This cute cafe offers Japanese-inspired pastries called Taiyaki – fresh baked waffles in a fish-shape that come with a variety of fillings of your choice! A single Taiyaki is $3.50 or you can order a combo with a coffee or tea for $5.20. They also offer savoury lunch and breakfast options starting at $4.80!

If you live in Halifax, you’ve probably tried Tony’s famous hand-crafted donairs piled with tomato, onion and of course donair sauce! Tony’s offers some of the best late night bites around and at $7.25 for a Regular Donair, you can’t beat it.

Two platters of maki sushi rolls - a delicious dinner of budget-friendly bites for the whole squad.

Wasabi House is a classic Halifax spot for sushi takeout and our personal favourite! The prices are super affordable and they’re always so generous in providing extra rolls on the house. Date Night Tip: They offer a nightly Happy Hour every night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. with discounted appetizers and Maki combos!

This iconic restaurant offers delicious breakfast and lunch dishes guaranteed to cure you from the Sunday Scaries. Sandwiches start at just $5 with breakfast items starting at $6.55 – such a steal!

Young Pocha serves up traditional Korean dishes in the heart of the north end of Halifax on Agricola St. The food is delicious and authentic, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Their Spicy Fried Chicken is less than $20 and definitely a must try!

A meal of budget-friendly bites consisting on tacos and local beer.

Celebrate #TacoTuesday at Taco Lina’s – a delicious taco joint located in Cafe Lara! We recommend the Al Pastor and Baja Fish tacos – the flavours are bright and fresh and definitely worth a visit. Be prepared for a meal that’s 100% worth the mess!
