Bars & Restaurants

Drift opened its doors on the Halifax Waterfront last year and has quickly become one of the hottest date spots in the city! Enjoy fine dining creations of Nova Scotian classics, Maritime hospitality, and incredible interior design.

With design elements inspired by shipbuilding traditions, you and your date will find moments of quiet conversation next to floor-to-ceiling marble fluted fireplaces and opportunities to share food and flavours at communal tables next to Muntz metal columns and leather-wrapped walls.

Located in Downtown Dartmouth, Oxalis is an intimate and elevated European farm-to-table dining experience that highlights local Nova Scotian products.

They offer a special Wednesday Date Night prix fixe menu for around $50 that is updated weekly and also a ‘Thirsty Thursdays’ special where you can enjoy $10 off bottles all night.

Bar Kismet is a small, family-owned and operated restaurant and bar serving inventive cocktails, thoughtfully curated wine, fresh seafood, and homemade pasta. It’s one of the top date spots in Halifax for grabbing a drink and perfect for  a first date or double-date!

This polished restaurant in Downtown Halifax serves up everything you need from small plates to hearty mains to craft cocktails. But our favourite time to visit Julep has to be brunch! Try their Buttermilk Fried Chicken ‘Monte Cristo’, you won’t regret it.

Hop Scotch Dinner Club is a pop-up turned brick and mortar restaurant in Downtown Halifax that focuses on sustainable, East Coast flavours. They have a special menu on for Dine Around Halifax this month and will also be open for a special Valentine’s Day service!

If you enjoy craft cocktails, learning how to make your own at home is such a fun date idea to do solo or with a partner! Compass Distillers Cocktail Kits are made fresh to order with everything you need to make a gorgeous cocktail from the comfort of your own home. Just mix and enjoy!

We have participated in so many of Seasoned Plate‘s Monthly Virtual Cooking Classes and they get more and more fun each time! Each step of the recipe is broken down and the best part is that you have a delicious meal to enjoy afterwards!

This month’s class is on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 12th, and will teach you the skills needed to make a yummy Pad Thai.

Have a games night to get the conversation going! datenight game was created to help make relationships better through connection, adventure, and experience. Perfect to play with your partner, friends, or when getting to know someone new!

Connect in fun, meaningful, and safe ways with games and activities that can be done from anywhere! Does your date have a sweet tooth? Have a cake tasting party at home with Temi Bakes Sweet Fix Slices! This monthly release of seasonal cake flavours is perfect for you to share…or not! Each box contains 6 slices of cake (2 per flavour). Perfect to share with your boo or on a girl’s night!

Active Outdoor Dates

This winter at The Links at Brunello, you can enjoy tobogganing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and cross-county skiing down miles of hiking trails and golf cart paths. Then, relax and grab a bite at their onsite restaurant, Nineteen.

If you haven’t been skiing yet this winter, plan a date this month! Ski Wentworth is 815 vertical feet high with 20 alpine trails, a 1/2 pipe, terrain park, freestyle ski facilities, and a variety of trails.

Ski Wentworth offers discounted day lift tickets Monday to Friday as well as food deals at the on-site bar and restaurant, Ducky’s, on Thursdays and Fridays!

Ice skating at the Emera Oval is one of our absolute favourite free winter date ideas! This Halifax skating spot is the largest outdoor, artificially-refrigerated ice surface east of Quebec City – equivalent in size to 3 NHL hockey rinks!

Covid protocols include a maximum capacity of 230 participants per skate time and access will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Residents must show full proof of COVID-19 vaccination and identification, practice physical distancing, and wear a mask at all times.

Equipment rentals, including skates and helmets, will not be available at this time so be sure to bring your own gear!
