Prince Edward Island is one of the most popular summer travel destinations in Canada. Nestled on the east coast, this picturesque island offers serene landscapes, quaint villages, beautiful sandy beaches, and delicious seafood cuisine. After moving away from PEI 6 years ago, I couldn’t wait to visit the island again with my partner and I knew just the place we had to stay!
Slaymaker & Nichols is a boutique hotel and gastropub located in the vibrant city of Charlottetown. They have three stunning guest rooms that are perfect for a couples getaway. The rooms are adult-only and they are designed to be an intimate getaway for two. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, or just a datenight getaway, here is everything you need to know to start planning your stay at Slaymaker & Nichols.
During our visit to Slaymaker & Nichols, we stayed in the breathtaking Mlle Caroline Suite. The design of the suite was inspired by the female trick rider in the circus, and a romantic idea of how she many have lived and prepared for her magnificent performances (think Reese Witherspoon in Water for Elephants). The room was equal parts tranquil, luxurious, and romantic.
The suite features a Queen bed, a comfortable seating area with a record player, and lovely windows all around the room. It’s safe to say that the highlight of the room is definitely the spectacular bathroom – the ultimate space for relaxation and pampering!
The Location
Slaymaker & Nichols is located in a prime location for exploring all the sights and sounds of Downtown Charlottetown. Some places we visited during our trip were:
- Victoria Park – the largest park in Charlottetown with a beautiful waterfront boardwalk
- The Bookman – local shop selling new, used, and rare books
- Peake’s Wharf – a special and unique collection of shops selling crafts, clothing, and souvenirs, along live music and a picturesque boardwalk
- Leonhard’s Cafe & Restaurant – everything is made daily from scratch and we are obsessed with their Vanilla Roll!
After adventuring around the city, we visited their restaurant located just downstairs for dinner. We were so impressed by the delicious food, beautiful interiors, and the amazing service! If you’re someone who loves casual yet elevated restaurants, this is the spot for you.
Breakfast In Bed
A stay at Slaymaker & Nichols includes a daily Breakfast Charcuterie Board with coffee and tea. Breakfast was delivered right outside our room at our chosen time which was so convenient, especially when we had a busy day of exploring ahead.
The breakfast included yummy yogurt parfaits, quiches, and fresh fruit.
Our stay at Slaymaker & Nichols was one of the most memorable trips we’ve been on and we can’t recommend it enough! The staff truly went above and beyond to make our visit special and it will certainly be a spot we’ll be visiting time and time again on our trips to Prince Edward Island.
