Stuff Your Face with Poutine For a Good Cause

Gorilla Whale YYC Poutine

Poutine your hunger in its place this Spring with Poutine With A Purpose in collaboration with Meal Share — an awesome local initiative to provide free meals for those in need across Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria and now Hamilton!

From April 23rd to May 1st, order poutine from your favourite participating local restaurants to donate a free, healthy meal to youth in need. This fun foodie date truly gives back by supporting our city’s up and comers.

The glorious dish you see in the image above is the Karaage Paitan Poutine from YYC staple, Gorilla Whale! It’s lush with edamame beans, Paitan gravy, whole karaage fried chicken thigh, fresh scallion, the list goes on… Hungry yet?

Poutine With A Purpose started as a one-day, “Poutine Crawl” experiment on social media at Mount Royal University in 2010 — when Instagram was just a newborn. From there, it evolved into Calgary Poutine Week until joining forces with Meal Share, an amazing organization with a goal to end youth hunger.

Since 2013, 35,000 poutines have been sold in support of Mealshare! That’s 35,000 healthy meals allocated to youth in need. Let’s show the love this Spring and give our dates extra purpose by participating in this inspiring food festival.

The beautiful meal you see above is the 100% Vegan Fried Chick’n from V Burger. Loaded with french fries, fried chick’n, bac’n, chick’n gravy, hot sauce and green onions, you don’t want to miss out! Click here to find all participating restaurants.

This is a wonderful opportunity to treat yourself and help empower those who are disadvantaged in our communities. Bring your appetite and make sure to share your poutine adventures by tagging @poutinewithapurpose and @mealshare with the hashtags #ohmycurd #poutinewithpurpose.
