Port Maitland is now a peaceful retreat that attracts visitors from all over the province to experience this affordable, hidden beach town just steps away from The South Port Cottage – we recently explored this once thriving fishing village with a quick city getaway and staycation!

The South Port Cottage is also just a short walk away from the Port Maitland Lighthouse, where a romantic stroll along the pier is perfect at sunrise or after dinner in the town and just in time for sunset views. 

The cottage

Pulling up to The South Port Cottage and being welcomed with a warm entry sign, it is truly easy to see why guests automatically feel a sense of delight and coziness.

This bright and cheery Airbnb is a newly renovated century-old cottage equipped with modern amenities and decorated with antiques and vintage pieces, providing a comfortable and authentic experience, yet still retaining its historic charm.

The customizable letter sign is a lovely touch to get creative and draws attention right as you enter, making for a fun statement decor piece. Guests are also treated with goodies from the “spa basket” and gifted with souvenirs and snacks from local town shops.

Options are endless when deciding where guests will sleep: there’s three bedrooms with sleeping arrangements fit for a couple, a group of friends, or a family getaway (bedroom 1: 1 queen bed, bedroom 2: a bunk bed, bedroom 3: 2 single beds + floor mattress, living room: sofa bed).

The parking is ample and the backyard is spacious with a BBQ area, porch, firepit, and water well – just right for enjoying a summer night cuddling up and listening to the sounds of the waves nearby.
