It’s time to get serious about our summer plans. We hate being the bearers of bad news, but now that August is officially here, our summer days are limited. 1. Bowden SunMaze
Early August – September
Romantic photo-op much? Frolic through the sunflower fields and test your teamwork skills with a trip through the maze at Bowden SunMaze. It’s only an hour and change from Calgary and the perfect short day trip for a fun date adventure to be WOWed by a field of 100,000 sunflowers!
2. TELUS Spark Science Centre

The TELUS Spark Science Centre truly has something for everyone – no matter the age. The Drive-In is playing classics every weekend in August from Frozen to Harry Potter to Friday the 13th (and everything in between). If you are making a trip, make sure to check out the brand new digital immersive experience, “Every Second”, which breaks down the human life into shocking numbers such as how many bathtubs full of coffee the average person consumes in a lifetime. One more attraction that cannot be missed on a trip to TELUS Spark, is the Astronaut Ice Cream Shop – where you can choose a wacky, but delicious planet-inspired cone.
3. Inglewood Night Market
Friday, August 13th, 4:00-11:00 PM
Shop local goods from handmade art to vintage clothing, while you enjoy live music, feast on delicious local food truck snacks and wander beautiful Inglewood for this summer’s night market! Get your tickets here and plan your Inglewood August date night!
4. Wild About Art
Friday, August 27th – 5:00-9:00 PM
A brand new event experience is coming to The Calgary Zoo! Wild About Art is an art and wine event that is aiming to support local artists and showcase that nature is truly an inspiration for all! You will be able to wander and visit your favourite fur friends, all while sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying the variety of art displayed across the zoo.
5. Shakespeare On The Go
Until August 29th
In order to provide a COVID-19 safe experience, Shakespeare by the Bow looks a little different this year. All summer, they are hosting up to 3 shows at separate locations on performance nights for the opportunity for more attendees to view the show safely.
