Hello summer, we’ve been waiting for you. Our favourite time of the year is here once again and we are so excited to hit up those patios and get our sun-kissed tans on. Here are some awesome events happening this month in Calgary that will make sure your summer starts off right.

1. Way Out West Fest
June 1st – June 3rd at various times

Embrace your West with this three-day festival. These events are inspired by our rich Western heritage  – think of it as a great mash-up of the past and present. Learn the art of roping at Smithbilt Hats while you sip on some cold brews from Cold Garden, learn how to make a delectable cocktail creation at Eau Claire Distillery,  enjoy an art auction and dinner at the Deane House and paint a cow skull at Cody & Sioux. Whatever your mood, they’ve got something for everyone to enjoy.

2. Little Modern Market – Spring Edition

Little Modern Market returns for its spring edition on June 2nd. Come shop from over 80 of your favourite local vendors. Vendors include Oxeye Floral Co., Jill Weston, Jacob Grace Designs, Wylo + Co, Friday Sock Co., Pretty Sweet, The Gut Lab, Words + Co, Wrinkle + Crease, Bark YYC and so many more.

3. Market Collective x Best of Calgary: Jewelry Pop-Up

In celebration of being voted the ‘best place to find cool jewelry’ by Best of Calgary 2018, Market Collective will be hosting a special jewelry pop-up shop outside Plant on June 2nd. Come browse unique pieces from some incredible local jewelry makers and enjoy a talented artist line up. The event is free and all ages are welcome.

4. Calgary Sneaker Swap

Sneaker Swap is a one day marketplace for sneaker fanatics to share secrets of buying, selling, trading, collecting, and keeping sneakers fresh. Expect vendors selling sneakers, clothing, and art (think Market Collective meets Sneakers), talks, and live music. The heart and soul of the event is the trading floor. Attendees are encouraged to bring sneakers to sell and trade throughout the day.

5. Steel Dreamz

8. Customer Appreciation Summer Kick-Off Sale

Cibo is heading north with a second location this month. Chef Justin Lail will be leading the team and fans of the popular restaurant will be able to enjoy a similar menu at both locations. You’ll have free reign in their galleries, a fully licensed bar to get your drink on and dance jams to keep your good mood going all night long. Sunterra is celebrating Pork Month with special classes in their social kitchen. On June 16th and 23rd, they’ll be hosting Beer, Barbecue and Butchery. This tasty class includes one free drink and all your favourite Sunterra Farms pork dishes like red oak bacon caesar salad, slow cooked pork belly with drip pan potatoes, chipotle and fennel ribs and pork chops. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it. Her opening act, Ruben Young, is a local Calgary artist well-loved for his electro-R&B vibes, his catchy singles, and his opening acts for international artists like The Chainsmokers and Akon.
