Throughout Toronto there are many different fast food restaurants, some have even called our burger scene ‘oversaturated’; but you can only get the best of the best by having so many amazing burgers in Toronto to choose from!
So, we’ve rounded up Toronto’s iconic smash burger spots in one place so you can have the ultimate burger-lover’s date!
Check them out below:
Happy Burger
Location: 76 Lippincott St, Toronto (just off of College)
Open since 2020, their smash patties are made using high quality fresh ground beef, meaning it’s so tasty they only gotta season it with salt and pepper! Their simply menu and toppings, and ‘happy’ vibe has made Happy Burger a favourite among smash burger critics and lovers.
Burger Drops
Location: 116 Atlantic Ave, Toronto
Often crowned the top burger spot in Toronto, this Liberty Village favourite makes an amazing smash burger that has quite the size to it – can never complain there. At Burger Drops, they form each ball by hand and smash the burgers themselves, in-house – you can’t get fresher than that!
Come for their classic menu of burgers, sides, and sweets, and keep going back for their limited edition and inventive drops, fun events, and for all your burger craving needs, of course.
Harry’s Charbroiled
Location: Inside Waterworks Food Hall (50 Brant St or 505 Richmond St) & 255 Coxwell Ave, Toronto
This burger place is open for dine-in (at the food hall) takeout and delivers around the city. Another simple menu but HUGE flavours in these burgers that are smashed so thin, the edges get crispy. Try their Plain Jane to appreciate the OG burger taste or dress it up with their Green Burger, Red Burger, or Classic Jane.
J.A.B.S
Location: 630 St Clair Ave W, Toronto
Self-coined as ‘just another burger spot’, this has quickly risen and cracked the list for Toronto’s top 10 burgers. What started as a pop-up is now a beloved burger-lover staple in the city. Order their Classic, Cheese, or Oklahoma-style burgers with three different types of fry sides.
They also have chicken burgers and healthy bowls but, we’re not here for that right now.
RUDY
Location: 619 College St & 1330 Danforth Ave. & 69 Duncan St. & 168 Eglinton Ave E. & 1466 The Queensway
RUDY had led Toronto in their smash burger journey and were one of the first people to do it here. This spot now has over six locations across the GTA serving up their simple, crispy and lacey smash burgers with classic diner sides.
They’ve even been known to cater some awesome events (RUDY wedding anyone?)
Matty’s Patty’s
Location: 923a Queen St W, Toronto
Did you know Trinity Bellwoods’ favourite burger spot started on the Island of Hawaii by local Matty Matheson? Matty and co-founder Pat Tenore imagined the concept while handing out burgers at a community event.
A small but mighty menu, you’ll find that Matty’s signature smash burgers are made with AAA beef brisket and chuck. Top it off with MP Signature Sauce, Jalapeño Mayo, and a Spicy Ketchup.
Rosie’s Burgers
Location: 573 Queen St W & 486 Front St West (The Well) & 61 Lakeshore Rd (Mississauga)
A family owned local business that started in Port Credit, Mississauga has turned into a top burger spot among Toronto foodies. They have a classic burger and milkshake-style vibe and their desserts have also developed quite a fan base.
Find homemade Dad’s Banana Pudding, chocolate chip cookies, and hand-spun Milkshakes.
Ugly Delicious
Location: 199 Baldwin St, Toronto
Ugly Delicious burgers are made with a signature blend of Halal Australian Wagyu and premium AAA beef cut, delivered and grind fresh daily.
These are definitely NOT ugly, but they are delicious.
Shake Shack
Location: 10 Dundas St E, Toronto
Has the hype died down yet since opening its first Canadian location? This past summer, Shake Shack made its debut at Yonge-Dundas Square. The American favourite for smash burgers and crinkle-cut fries in modern green-and-white adorned diners is still such a classic place to get your fast food fill. If the lines ever die down, we’ll be seeing lots of it!
Big Trouble
Location: 191 Geary Ave, Toronto
At first glance, this is a pizza spot. Known for unique and creative styles of pies that go beyond what you’d find at a traditional pizza shop, Big Trouble also does an awesome smash burger.
The three options of burgers include Big Trouble Burger (House Sauce, American cheese, lettuce, onions, ketchup, pickles, potato bun); Kwispy Wanch Burger (American Cheese, crispy onion, ranch sauce, jalapeño, pickled red onion, potato bun); Roast-Lahoma Burger (roasted onions, American Cheese, dijonnaise, pickles, potato bun.
Cabano’s Cheeseburgers
Location: 75 St Nicholas St #104, Toronto
This small restaurant has an excellent smash burger. The Cabano burger is made with 8oz of fresh meat, plenty of American cheese, unique deep-fried jalapenos, lettuce, onions, and a house-made burger sauce.
