From the Calgary Underground Film Festival to the YYCFoodTrucks Spring Frenzy, here’s what’s up this week in YYC.
1. Calgary Underground Film Festival
April 16th-April 22nd at Various Times
Globe Cinema, 617 8 Ave SW
The Calgary Underground Film Festival returns for its 15th year this week. Featuring films from around the world and on a variety of topics, this is the place to be for all movie buffs and aspiring filmmakers. Watch films including Fake Tattoos, Paper Year, Allure, High Fantasy, and more. Don’t miss the CUFFcade, where there will be five new, independent video games for you to try your hand at.
2. Speed Dating (Singles 25+)
April 18th from 6pm-8pm
Bourbon Room, 341 10 Ave SW
Put down your phone and join us for 3D Tinder. Each event has 20 single women and 20 single men to connect with. The women stay in the same seat and the men rotate. Each date will last from 4-5 minutes. You can practice your flirting skills and game while meeting new people. We collect your matches at the end of the night and will contact you with your matches the following day. This is so you don’t have the awkward phone number exchange at the end of the conversation. Your contact info is only shared with permission and if you have a match. Try something a little out of your comfort zone – your couch won’t miss you.
