From Rock the Junction to Their Opportunity Endless Summer Party, here’s what’s up this week in YYC.

1. Rock the Junction

Summer’s coming to an end and so is East Village Junction – but not before one last hurrah! Come hang out in the EV ‘hood on Monday, September 3rd. Grab a bite from YYCFoodTrucks, browse unique goodies from 12 local retailer and enjoy some local talent including The Ashley Hundred, The Torchettes, Windigo and The Lovebullies.

2. Añejo’s 6th Birthday
September 4th from 11am-11pm

Añejo is turning 6 on Tuesday, September 4th and they want you to come celebrate with them. Bring your amigos down to their birthday party where there will be specials all day, sugar skull cake after dinner and their incredible $6 margaritas on feature. Oh, and as always, make sure you get some of that guac too. It’s the best way to start your week after the long weekend.


3. Honour Beat
September 4th – 29th at Various Times

In this world premiere brought to you by Theatre Calgary and internationally acclaimed Calgary-based playwrite Tara Beagan, you’ll see a story about two grown sisters facing off over their mother’s death bed. Watch the story unfold as the sisters explore themes about confrontation, their own identities and the significance of faith and family while learning what remains when their mother leaves this world. Bring your tissues as this play will leave you laughing through your tears. Directed by film and TV favourite Michelle Thrush.


4. A Fish Tale Cooking Class
September 6th from 630pm-930pm

Explore the fascinating world of seafood cookery and the science behind it to get the most out of your catch. Come prepare (and eat) different dishes while learning about specific cooking procedures and stuffing secrets. Learn some choice marinades and a je ne sais quoi that will leave your friends wanting to bring you their own catch. This class includes a recipe booklet, light meal with wine sampling and a customized kitchen utensil to take home.

5. Their Opportunity Endless Summer Kickoff Party
September 7th from 7pm-10pm
Cult Collective, 1025 10 St SE

Come hang at this event that incorporates all the summer vibes. Hosted at Cult Collective LP in Inglewood, this is a fantastic evening dedicated to living easy and free. Get your squad together, shine up your favourite pair of converse and get ready for some summertime fun. All proceeds from the Endless Summer Party go towards Their Opportunity, a foundation that exists to provide low-income families with the means to enrol their children in local sports programs.
