Lucky for YYC that we get an extra day this year in Feb — we really need it to pack in all of the seriously fab events taking place during the month’s final days! From educational discussions around health and money hosted by The Ace Class, to must-have hot chocolates and to beautiful multi-cultural showcases in honour of Black History Month and the arrival of Spring, the theme of this week is education, fun and flare. Read on to find out your next stop to learning some really cool things about yourself and your city!

ACE TALKS 

Start your Tuesday morning off right this week with the kick ass women of The Ace Class! On February 25th, The Ace Class is hosting a 7:30am Coffee Talk in the ever-welcoming Community Natural Foods on 10th Ave downtown. Guest Speaker Lisa Taylor is an herbalist and Natural Health Consultant. She’s helped countless people reframe and achieve their health goals by looking at how sleep, supplementation, digestion, hormones and various lifestyle changes can drastically enhance wellbeing. The talk includes light refreshments and coffee (score!). 

WOMEN, WEALTH AND WINE 

Join the enriching community of The Ace Class women on Wednesday, Feb. 26th from  in an empowering discussion around money, business and how this ties in with leveling up your personal growth. The event will feature guests speakers Colleen Foisy and Danielle Marcucci — managers with the assurance group Grant Thorton. Both having extensive knowledge about assurance services and entrepreneurship, their insights and wisdom will help reveal and break money habits that might be breaking your bank!

CALGARY HOME AND GARDEN SHOW 

Get into that Spring mood of renewal at the seriously gorg Home and Garden Show at BMO this week! From incredible guest speakers to endless vendors, all of your gardening questions, ideas, inspiration and needs can be met at this lush four-day exposition starting on Thursday, Feb. 27th. This year features celebrity guest speaker Bryan Bauelmer from HGTV’s Island of Bryan who will team up with various amazing local vendors, like Prairie Girl Flowers and Calgary Cottage Gardener to share expert knowledge and project inspo for Spring and Summer! 

ETHNIK FESTIVAL 

On Friday, Feb, 28th, explore the rich art, culture and history of Afro Canadian and Caribbean Heritage at Ethnic: Festival of Arts and Culture in Celebration of Black History Month. From heart-pumping dance performances, creative poetry, live drumming and much more, this event will educate, empower and uplift you — and at NO COST to attend! Black History Month is a significant part of Canadian life, especially in YYC, where our Arts & Culture scene is so vividly influenced by Afro-Caribbean flare. Don’t miss out on this amazing event at the stunning Central Library from 2–8pm. 

YYC HOT CHOCOLATE FEST

February 24th–29th is the last full week of one of the “hottest” and “sweetest” events to hit YYC all year — Hot Chocolate Fest. Various city-wide cafes and restaurants participate every Feb. by creating totally original, signature hot chocolates to snatch the title of Best Hot Chocolate in YYC — bragging rights much? Better yet, a portion of all Hot Chocolate Fest beverage sales are donated to Meals on Wheels

We hardcore recommend Lina’s Italian Market’s Sapori di Sicilia. You’ll go mad for this 70% Madagascar Dark Chocolate based bevvie topped with luscious homemade whip cream and embellished with pistachio bronte and drizzle — YUM.
