From Fiestaval Latin Festival to Calcutta Cricket Club’s First Birthday, here’s what’s up this weekend in YYC.

1. Fiestaval Latin Festival

It’s about to get Fiestive this weekend! Explore this multicultural arts and entertainment festival highlighting the Latin American Culture. Taking place in the heart of downtown Calgary at the Calgary Olympic Plaza from July 20th to July 22nd, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate Calgary’s Latin community.

2. One Big Jam

Call up your squad for an afternoon of fun at Central Memorial Park this Sunday. At this free all-ages event, some of Calgary’s most talented performers will collaborate to bring you a powerful concert guaranteed to get you grooving. Performers include instrumentalists, singers, emcees, beatboxers and dancers.

3. A Twist on Sushi

This class will teach you the fundamental techniques of making sushi but with an array of local ingredients that will spark the artist within you. Items on the menu include a pulled pork and lemongrass sushi roll with barbecue soy dip, egg salad rolls with sesame seeds and cilantro, crab salad with jalapeno and caramelized pineapple sushi with mango dip. This class includes a recipe booklet, a sushi style dinner with wine sampling, and a customized kitchen utensil to take home.

The CSSC is excited to bring you something new this weekend. They’ve partnered with the Calgary Lawn Bowling Club to bring you a tournament played around the world. Bowls combines accuracy, strategy, exercise and a ton of fun. If you’ve never tried it, think Curling meets Bocce over an IPA… plus with an on-site beer garden and BBQ, you can’t go wrong with this evening tournament.

5. Calcutta Cricket Club’s First Birthday

Come celebrate Calcutta Cricket Club’s first birthday with them this Sunday! From 2pm to 8pm, they’ll have a gin bar, beer specials, cheap kati rolls and Kinfolk DJ’s on the patio. Sunday Funday just got a whole lot better – no presents required, just bring your party hats.
