It’s no surprise that springtime in Vancouver brings a sense of peace and serenity throughout the whole city. As we settle into April and the weather warms up, the city will soon be fully coloured with cherry blossom trees, typically ranging from end March until the end of April.
There are so many serene spots that you can hang out with these beautiful Akebono cherry trees, and we’ve rounded up a couple of the best places that you could view them!
1. Garry Point Park
The scenic Garry Point Park in Richmond is a popular one amongst the locals, thanks to the stunning grove of 255 Akebono cherry trees. On top of that, it’s also located next to the Fraser River and the ocean, which means that it’s an ideal place to fly kites — because of the wind!
2. Ambleside Pier
Ambleside Park, located in West Vancouver, has lovely Shirotae cherry blossoms along the waterfront as well as an unobstructed view of the Lions Gate Bridge. The area is great for taking a stroll, for fishing and catching crabs too.
3. Cherry Blossom Garden – Buchanan St. & Rosser Ave.
In East Vancouver, near Brentwood town centre in Burnaby, there are five rows of Akebono cherry trees in a park-like setting where Buchanan St. meets Rosser Ave., making for a beautiful stroll and great backdrop for photos.
4. David Lam Park
In addition to over 100 clusters of cherry blossom trees at David Lam park, there are also a lot of springtime events that are held here such as the big picnic and blossoms after dark for the cherry blossom festival.
This is also a great place for booking a photo shoot, whether it’s a wedding, engagement, family, solo, or couple!
5. Central Park
If you’re looking for more of an intimate spot, the lower pond in Central Park offers a stunning view of cherry blossoms right by the water, doubling down as the perfect spot for a waterside picnic date. This park located in Burnaby provides beautiful views all year round.
