Sure, it may be July and Stampede is over, but there is still LOTS to do here in Calgary before the leaves start to turn. Don’t fret YYC, you still have weeks and weeks of summer weather left, so why not make the most of it and pack your days, evenings and weekends full with Calgary’s top events? We’ve made a list of our eight top suggestions – hit one per week and you’ve got a pretty wild summer coming up!

Sikome Lake

From now until September 2, make your way down to Fish Creek Park to enjoy the sandy shores of Sikome Lake. Open daily from 10am-7pm, pay a small fee to enjoy the sand, water, beach volleyball and some peace and quiet in the warm summer sun.

Folk Fest

Next week, we proudly welcome the 40th annual Calgary Folk Music Festival to Prince’s Island Park! From July 25th-28th, soak up the sun as you listen to local and world-renowned artists alike, day-in and day-out. Eat, sing, dance and relax as you help celebrate forty years of folk music right here in YYC.

Inglewood Sunfest

On August 3rd from 11am-6pm, head down to Inglewood to celebrate, engage and be entertained by some of the city’s finest talent as you wander the area, sample delicious food and shop ’til you drop.

Chasing Summer

August 3rd-4th mark the long weekend, and one filled with high-energy dance music at that! Two days of outdoor music with artists like The Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki, Alesso and more are here to help you sing and dance the summer days away.

Taste of Calgary

Anytime from August 8th-11th, head on down the Eau Claire Plaza to wander through booth after booth of unique global cuisine in bite-size form. At $1/tasting ticket, trade your change in for food tickets and sample until your heart’s, or should we say stomach’s, content.

GlobalFest

From August 15th-24th, watch in wonder as Alberta’s most explosive festival happens right here in Calgary’s Elliston Park. With performances from China, Spain, USA and our fellow Canadian team, watch night after night as these countries battle it out to see who can take home this year’s title.

Country Thunder Alberta

Form August 16th-18th, sing along with some of the greats at this year’s country music festival. With performances from Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Leaving Thomas, Terri Clark and so many more, your boots will be stompin’ in no time.

Calgary Pride Week

From August 23rd until September 1st, pull out your brightest coloured shirts and flashy rainbow apparel to show your support at the signature Pride event of the year. Visit the Calgary Pride website above for all things happening Pride-related, whether you like to bowl, dance, float the river or chat with like-minded individuals.
