ATTILA

Discussions pertaining to mental health problems, addiction issues, and concerns about the increase in homelessness have become common topics of concern in society.

In fact, the 75th anniversary of World Mental Health Day (October 10) is just around the corner and what could be more important than a world premiere presentation of a new documentary that follows a young man’s investigation into the life and death of his beloved twin brother who fell victim to all three hardships mentioned.

ATTILA will have its world premiere on Tuesday October 10, 2023 (World Mental Health Day). A true to life story told by passionate Toronto filmmaker Stephen Hosier. This, as part of Rendezvous with Madness in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

This special heart moving documentary follows Richard Csanyi as he reflects on life with his twin and the sad events leading up to the passing of his brother ATTILA on a rooftop in Hamilton – May 2020. It’s an important story and one that shines a light on the common challenges and harsh outcomes often faced by persons with serious mental illness. The film inspires discussion and thoughtful consideration as it navigates the systems that sometimes fail those in greatest need.

ATTILA – the documentary owes a lot to the vision of Director Stephen Hosier as well as the courage demonstrated by Richard Csanyi. Thanks also goes out to the crew who helped bring this project to life and to the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts Council for their support.
