Chotto Matte is an eye-catching and trendy restaurant in the heart of downtown (161 Bay St.) offering a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, bold and creative drinks, and an iconic all-you-can-eat Jungle Brunch with performances and more.

The restaurant opened in Toronto in 2019, following the success of their locations around the world including London, Miami, and the Middle East.

Chotto Matte brings the best of food, beverage, and unique experiences to your Toronto date nights.

When the restaurant opened in the city, Chotto Matte introduced Nikkei cuisine to Toronto with a mix of sushi and sashimi dishes, to a grill menu, tasting menus, and tons of small plats and tapas to compliment the atmosphere and your experience.

The restaurant concept was created in 2013 by Founder and Owner Kurt Zdesar, and was meant to push the boundaries of the restaurant scene in the world’s most inspirational cities.

The cocktail collection created for Chotto Matte fits in perfectly with the Tokyo-to-Lima cuisine, exploring new and unlikely flavours, as well as new inventions.

A classic way to start off your dinner date at Chotto Matte is with a couple of Pisco Sours, their signature drink on the menu. Made with Caravedo Quebranta pisco, lime juice, egg white and bitters.

Every dish ordered here will be infused with flavour and presented to your table exquisitely. Using a unique blend of Japanese and Peruvian culinary traditions, Executive Chef Jordan Sclare brings an artistic approach to each plate.

The Shishito Peppers are BBQ’d and tossed in den miso and salt flakes, and the Shojin Nikkei is torched table-side and topped with Takuan, carrot, asparagus, cucumber, romano pepper, avocado, and shiso.

From the Robata Grill, we tried the Pollo den Miso (miso-marinated chicken) topped with carrot, daikon, and yellow chili yoghurt.

Chotto Matte loves dates nights, and they even offer a number of packages that make the perfect experience and gift! You can book: the Chef Experience, Nikkei Experience, Sushi Experience, Birthday Experience, and a Romantic Experience.
