If you’ve ever stood in front of a bathroom mirror at 7:30 a.m. trying to figure out how on earth you’re supposed to turn your kid’s hair into a ponytail, braid, or something else they’re explaining (that you’re soo not doing right) before school, this one is for you.
Dads & Dos is coming back to Toronto on September 25, bringing dads and father figures together for an evening of hairstyling, pizza, play and, hopefully, a few fewer chaotic school mornings.
The back-to-school edition of the popular Dads & Dos workshop is returning to Adventure Alley Toronto following two successful events over Father’s Day weekend. This time around, the focus is on practical hairstyles and techniques that dads can actually take home and use.
And helping bring the dad community together? Josh Seaton, founder of datenight, who is co-hosting the evening alongside Adventure Alley Co-Founder Sebastian Kennedy.
A Night for Dads, Kids and a Little Trial and Error
Taking place Friday, September 25, Dads & Dos is designed to be approachable, hands-on and genuinely fun, even if your current hairstyling repertoire starts and ends with “brush it.”
The 90-minute workshop will be led by Giada Cavuto, owner of Chroma Hair Shop on Roncesvalles, who will walk participants through everyday techniques including ponytails, buns, braids, detangling and quick styling tricks for busy school mornings.
Adventure Alley’s Aliyah Pasqua will also join the workshop, bringing practical guidance for working with a range of hair types and textures. Together, Giada and Aliyah will cover detangling methods, styling considerations and techniques families can use at home.
Participants can choose between a straight-hair mannequin or a textured-hair mannequin during registration, making the workshop a chance to learn techniques that are actually relevant to their own family.
More Than a Hairstyling Workshop
At its heart, Dads & Dos is about creating space for dads and father figures to spend quality time with their kids while connecting with other families.
That community piece is part of what makes this event especially fun. Instead of another evening where parents are juggling dinner, activities and bedtime routines, families can show up, learn something together, grab some food and let the kids play.
Children can move between the workshop room, a craft activity in The Burrow and Adventure Alley’s play space throughout the evening. For children five and older, supervised play is also available during the workshop when selected during registration.
So while Dad is working on that braid, the kids have plenty to keep them busy.
Pizza, Play and a Few Drinks, Too
Because no family event should require anyone to learn a new skill on an empty stomach, the evening also includes pizza and snacks.
Guests aged 19 and older can enjoy hospitality beverages courtesy of Steadfast Brewing Company while they learn, making this feel a little more like a dad night out than a traditional parenting workshop.

Tickets: $79.99 + HST
Spots: 12 participant spots available
The main ticket includes one participating dad or father figure, one accompanying adult and one child, plus the 90-minute hairstyling workshop, mannequin and styling tools, access to the play space, a child-friendly craft activity, pizza and snacks.
Supervised play for the included child is available at no additional charge for children five and older, subject to eligibility, staffing and availability.
Additional adults can join for $5.99 + HST, while additional children ages 1–12 are $15 + HST. An additional child aged five or older can be registered for supervised play for $25 + HST.
Advance registration is required and walk-ins will not be accepted. Check-in begins at 5:15 p.m., with the workshop starting promptly at 5:30 p.m.
A Dad Community Worth Showing Up For
Toronto has no shortage of things for families to do, but there’s something particularly nice about an event designed to bring dads into the room, too.
Dads & Dos is part practical workshop, part family night and part community-building opportunity. You might leave knowing how to make a decent bun, but the bigger win is spending an evening with your kid, meeting other dads and having a reason to laugh at your first attempt.
