Spring is in the air (and love too) as you discover lots of great Halifax date ideas; maybe even discover a new favourite!

After a long and chilly winter, everyone is hyped to enjoy the outdoors and you can find plenty to see and do in Nova Scotia’s capital.

Check out some Halifax date ideas that you can put on your date night bucket list this spring.

Patio Date Idea

Patios are open for dates as the weather gets warmer. The city has many great patios to enjoy a drink in the sun with your bae. We recommend heading to The Lower Deck for waterfront views and cool cocktails first. Then check out The Stones Throw, which, aside from the most awesome name, also comes with scenic views of the Halifax Boardwalk lined with historic buildings. Did you know Halifax has over 70 patio venues to choose from? We say cheers to that!

Park Date Idea

Forget about buying her flowers, just go to The Halifax Public Gardens instead. The Victorian-era flower gardens are blooming this time of year and you can take a peaceful stroll through the grounds, have a picnic, stop for some photos and enjoy Mother Nature’s gorgeous creation. Then, stop by the cafe in Horticulture Hall and get a caffeine fix on the deck near the massive elm trees.

Boat Date Idea

Climb aboard the Tall Ship Silva and enjoy a cruise around the scenic Halifax Harbour. The 130′ schooner goes past major landmarks like Fort George, McNab’s Island and Point Pleasant Park. Enjoy the sights from the deck or Murphy’s Pub with staff telling you all about the local history and their contrasting modern-day stories of life at sea.

Bike Date Idea

On yer bike, love! I Heart Bikes is an innovative company offering e-bike rentals. Book your bike and gear and map out a pretty route that suits your fitness level. It’s a great way to see the city and get some exercise at the same time. The website even has suggested journeys from an easy 1-hour cycle around Point Pleasant Park to a more strenuous ride around downtown Halifax to a full-on 100 km adventure to Peggy’s Cove. They also offer guided tours if you are unfamiliar with the city or are new to the joys of biking.

Photoshoot Date Idea

Spring is one of the prettiest seasons, so why not book a photoshoot taking in some of your favorite city sights? We have our creative eye on photographer Ashley Cecelia who takes dreamy couple portraits. She seems to shoot a lot rurally, but we are sure she would be excited for a hip street photography session or photoshoot around the Halifax waterfront area.

Farmers Market Date Idea

The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market is in full swing by spring. Pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and flowers from the busy market, the oldest continuously operating farmer’s market in North America. Don’t forget to check out the rooftop garden after you spend some time roaming around the farm and artisan stalls.

These are just some of the spring activities Halifax has to offer. You could spend weeks exploring the vibrant city of Halifax that is infused with sea salt and culture and it gets even better in summer!
