Calgary is buzzing with exciting events for those participating in Dry January. There’s something for everyone to enjoy without the need for a drink in hand.

Mean Girls (Broadway)

What could be better than spending your Dry January with a fun musical? This one’s a classic – Coming straight from Broadway, Mean Girls is a hilarious musical brought to you by Tina Fey, the genius behind “30 Rock.” It’s all about a new girl getting caught up with a trio of popular frenemies. Mean Girls brings the laughs with loads of energy, a wicked sense of humour, and some awesome inside jokes. It’s located at Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium with various showtimes!

Stage West Theatre Restaurants presents Step by Step

Check out how the coolest boy bands evolved, starting from the Beatles and The Bee Gees, moving on to New Kids on the Block, and then rocking with *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. It’s the a journey through the best of boy band history! Dry January is the month for movies! Get ready for some great movie nights at Films at the Fort this January at Fort Calgary’s Burnswest Theatre! They’re showing classic movies that are lined up like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Princess Bride, and Star Wars: A New Hope. Every ticket includes popcorn and entry to the interpretive center. What a chill way to kick off the new year!

Curling On St. Patrick’s Island

Get set to create some winter memories without the need of alcohol at the curling rink located on St. Patrick’s Island! It’s the East Village’s 31-acre backyard with a cool synthetic curling setup is right by Confluence Plaza, close to the island washrooms and the Calgary Zoo parking lot.

Beyond the run is the iconic Terry Fox van at Gasoline Alley Museum’s exhibit. Head to the Gasoline Alley Museum and go on a historical date through the exhibition with interactive elements and images of Terry Fox’s inspiring journey.
