the hosts
Emma and Andrew Trousdale are the owners and hosts at Foret Cabins in Muskoka, a four season off-the-grid cabin in the heart of Ontario’s cottage country (and just over two hours from Toronto).
They met 20 years ago backpacking through SE Asia and fell madly in love. Seven years later, after going home to their lives in their respective countries, they reconnected, moved continents, got married, had babies, got a cat and dog, and eventually opened Foret Cabins!

the cabin
Foret Cabins immerses you in a calming and nature-surrounded getaway that you won’t soon forget. The design is simple yet elegant with a modern feel while remaining eco-friendly and off-grid. By driving north of Toronto, you can disconnect (then reconnect) to do whatever your heart desires.
Campfire cooking with your favourite person, having a cozy sleepover with the family, spending time exploring and hiking in nature, warming up by a fire; just some of the things that come to mind when planning a Foret Cabins stay.
The cabin is located on a 60-acre forested property, keeping it extremely private. It was truly designed to be an escape that surrounds you in trees.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a modern and aesthetic space with sustainable and vintage decor. Plus, objectively the most thoughtful addition of all, the screened-in porch makes your date nights more comfortable and (mostly) bug-free.
eco
Don’t leave a footprint! The cabin is powered by solar panels and designed to stay warm in winter and cool in summer with careful eco practices in mins. And while they provide wifi, they encourage you to unplug for the full experience. Plus, stargazing from the loft bed or spending some quality time (playing the datenight game, perhaps?), by the fire sounds way more romantic.
the area
If you and your date like to be on the go, this is the place for you too! There is a hiking trail through the property to a wetland and gorgeous stream with a large granite rock perfect for picnicking. You can make a whole date out of that!
