As 2025 begins, singles everywhere are kicking off the new year with unapologetic intentions and a fresh perspective on dating. According to Tinder’s Year in Swipe Report, 2025 is all about embracing clarity, connection, and spontaneity with trends like Loud Looking, Kiss-met, and Nano-ships.
And now, we’re in the midst of Peak Dating Season!
Melissa Hobley, Tinder’s Chief Marketing Officer stated, “These trends are all about empowering choice—whether it’s confidently stating your needs while Loud Looking, savouring serendipitous moments through Kiss-mets, or finding meaning in micro-connections with Nano-ships.
While last year was focused on ‘dating for the plot’ and casually exploring, this year, singles are stepping up, leading with purpose, and making their dating journeys truly their own.”
So here’s how to make 2025 your year, in relationships and life in general – think of it as your official sign to dive in!

2025’s dating trends
So what do the trends mean, exactly?
Loud Looking – Whether it’s a “Man in Finance” or “Gamer Girlfriend,” singles are ditching the vague and getting vocal and specific about their needs and desires in dating, confidently and unapologetically. This empowers singles to confidently state what they want!
Kiss-met – is a playful twist on “kismet,” meaning destiny or fate. A Kiss-met embodies the idea of seeking out spontaneity and stumbling upon joy. It’s essentially a modern rebrand of the classic “meet cute” and celebrates those magical, spontaneous moments.
Nano-ships – No romantic connection felt is too small to matter! Singles are finding meaning in even the tiniest interactions, whether it’s something serious or just for fun, those little micro-moments are leading to real possibilities.

How to make the most out of peak dating season:
Set Profile Resolutions – During Peak Dating Season (January 1st to February 14th), 486 bios are edited per minute on Tinder. Tinder’s resident Sex & Relationship expert, Dr. Jess, recommends that singles update profiles with 2025 goals or share something intriguing about themselves to spark meaningful conversations.
Message With Intention – With over 2.1 million more messages sent daily during peak dating season than the rest of the year, starting conversations that show interest and originality will help to stand out on a busy day.
Lean Into Peak Season Energy – Over 298 million more likes are exchanged during this time. With almost 40% surveyed singles saying ‘astrology love predictions’ are likely to influence how they date in 2025, Dr. Jess says sharing your astrological sign may help get some bonus likes – especially if you’re a Gemini or Virgo!
Make It a Team Effort – According to Tinder’s 2024 Year in Swipe report, nearly 50% of singles plan to lean on friends to navigate the dating world in 2025. Letting a trusted circle support in the dating journey (made easy using Tinder’s Matchmaker feature, for example), can help make the process safer and more enjoyable.
