Not only does Rockway Vineyards have award-winning wines that you can purchase in their retail store or sample in their tasting room; you can also play 18 holes on their championship golf course or dine on their patio with a full restaurant menu.
Rockway Vineyards is located in Niagara’s famed wine country around St. Catharines and they’re making Wine Wednesdays even better.
Every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., Rockway Vineyards puts on Wine Garden Wednesdays on their patio with live music, signature wine and food pairings, specials on beer and wine, and amazing summer vibes.
The datenight team visited Rockway Vineyards for a date in wine country, and you’ll want to put this one on your list.
The atmosphere
When walking up to the winery, you’re greeted with views of lush vineyards, fountains, a driving range, and rows of golf carts lining the entrance of their championship course. Patio 19, their on-site restaurant patio, overlooks the gorgeous finishing hole of the golf course as well as water fountains, a new Wine Garden with a gazebo, and the vineyards.
On Wine Garden Wednesdays, you’ll also see talented local artists playing acoustic covers of favourite tunes through the decades, fitting (and adding to) the vibe perfectly.
The food
Patio 19 is Rockway Vineyards‘ full-service restaurant with an expansive menu of starters, handhelds, burgers and pastas, pizza, wings, and other entrées and desserts
Every Wednesday during the summer they pair one of their award-winning wines with Signature Dishes, and we tried the Cherry Duck Confit with maple carrot purée, duck-fat roasted potatoes, charred seasoned broccoli, and a cherry Pinot Gastrique.
The Wine
One of our favourite wines we tried at Rockway Vineyards was the 2019 Pinot Noir. They have two options of this wine: one they harvested from their estate vineyard (Canal West), and the other from a vineyard located in the St. David’s Bench Appellation (Canal East).
Fun fact, originally they were planning to combine the two batches but after tasting them separately they kept them as single-vineyard wines to show case the differences to tasters! Try to do a tasting with your date and see if you can spot the differences between the wines.
We tried the Canal West which was super light in body, perfect for a summer red wine, with notes of red berries, cranberries, and sour cherries with undertones of floral notes and herb. It paired with the Duck Confit perfectly as the cherry flavours complimented each other well.

Weddings & Events at Rockway
Have your wedding in Rockway Vineyards’ Benchview Room in the heart of the Niagara Benchlands. The venue is adorned with wrap-around windows overlooking the vineyards and golf course and their expert team has a variety of packages to customize your special day.
Their room accommodates a wedding of 200 people and have options for intimate wedding of 20 guests.
Rockway Vineyards is about 10 minutes west of St. Catharines and just over an hour drive from Toronto (and even closer if you live in Mississauga and west)! Drive a short way out of the city and experience a blissful and gorgeous green winery date on weekdays and weekends alike.
