As the city gears up for Black Friday and all the beautiful chaos of holiday season, a group of Toronto-based beauty and home goods brands have come together to inspire Canadians to shop more mindfully.

Five women-founded Canadian brands have announced The Laneway, a pop-up destination for versatile, sustainable, and more thoughtful gift giving, which will run from November 17 – December 17, with exclusive complimentary programming from each brand on opening weekend (November 17-19).

Located in Ember Wellness’ brightly lit space in the lane of 198 Walnut Avenue (Unit 6), the pop up will feature a curated selection of local brands at the centre of social and environmental home and beauty. The first 25 shoppers on Saturday and Sunday will even get special gift bags with a variety of surprises from each brand!

The brands you’ll see there are:

19/99 Beauty

19/99 has a less-is-more approach to beauty with ageless, versatile makeup essentials at the forefront. During opening weekend, they’re offering complimentary mini makeovers from 3-6 pm on Saturday, November 18.

Ember Wellness

Ember Wellness is all about transparent, low-ingredient skincare through their collection of beautiful, clean, supportive skincare product. They’re Toronto location is also the venue for The Laneway! On November 18, they will offer complimentary 20-minute sculpt and glow facials beginning at 3PM.

Everist

Everist thoughtfully makes hair and body care essentials that are packed with natural, good-for-you ingredients. On November 19, Everist is offering Deep Conditioning Hair Treatments from 12-2PM.

Everly

Everly is the mom and daughter duo on a mission to clean up the candle industry! These clean, refillable candles make the perfect gift – plus, you probably have so many things lying around your home that would make the perfect candle vessels. Everly will demo candle making from 2-4pm on November 19 at the pop-up!

Guests on Earth

Make your cleaners and home care match your ‘aesthetic’ with Guests on Earth’s refillable, counter-worthy products! On November 19, they will offer a “Clear home, clear head” aromatherapy session, demonstrating the link between cleaning and wellness.

Each brand is female-founded and a disruptor in their category! Collectively, they are working to change shopping habits around the holiday season when consumption and waste are at a peak in Canada.

The brands have also partnered with TerraCycle, an organization working to eliminate the idea of waste through recycling and reuse solutions. So if you head to the pop-up you can bring personal care and beauty empties to be properly recycled through the TerraCycle program. If you do, you’ll receive $10 off a purchase of $50 or more from November 17-19.

This is just the start of holiday markets and date ideas! Stay tuned here for all the best coming up.
