There’s something about that first crack of the bat, the buzz of a packed stadium, and the feeling that winter is finally behind us. And in Toronto, nothing signals that shift quite like the Toronto Blue Jays home opener.
This year feels even bigger, too. The Jays are kicking off their 50th season at Rogers Centre on March 27 and after a championship run, it’s safe to say the energy (and demand) is very real.
Opening Night may already be on lock for die-hard fans (or those willing to brave resale prices), but the good news? The entire opening week (and season) is stacked with date-night-worthy moments that fun and accessible.
opening night is more than just a game
If you are lucky enough to be heading to Opening Night, this isn’t just first pitch, it’s a full-scale production.
The night begins with a special pregame ceremony celebrating the Toronto Blue Jays’ American League Championship, including the unveiling of the 2025 banner, a giant Canadian flag carried by 225 military members, and a live anthem performance by Vanessa Sears of & Juliet.
It’s one of those rare moments where the energy in Rogers Centre feels bigger than just baseball.
And yes, fans heading in will receive an AL Champions pennant on entry and a magnet schedule on the way out, so you’re leaving with more than just the memories.

If you’re watching from home, the ceremony will air live on Sportsnet, with extended pregame coverage starting at 5:30 p.m. so you can still tap into the moment even without a seat in the stadium.
the city celebrates even before the first pitch
Opening Week energy actually starts before the gates even open. On March 26, the Blue Jays flag will be raised at Toronto City Hall by ACE and the J FORCE crew, an early signal that baseball season is officially back.
Later that day, fans can catch a glimpse of the full squad during Workout Day at Rogers Centre, as new players hit the field for the first time.
If you’re the type of couple that loves being “in the know,” these are the kinds of moments that make the experience feel even bigger.
a full week of built-in date ideas
If Opening Night tickets didn’t happen this time around, don’t stress, this is where things get fun. The first at-home series (March 27 – April 1) is packed with options that still bring the energy without the pressure.
- March 28: Limited-edition AL Champions hat giveaway for the first 15,000 fans, presented by TD
- March 29: Jr. Jays Day now proudly presented by Ontario Honda Dealers, with activities around the ballpark for kids 14 and under.
- March 30: AL Champions Crewneck Giveaway – arguably the coziest souvenir of the season, presented by Enercare
- March 31: Loonie Dogs Night presented by Schneiders – lowkey one of the best casual date nights in the city

and the rogers centre food alone is worth the trip!
Soo, even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, the food is part of the experience and we’ve experience some truly creative and mouthwatering menu drops over the years.
This season, Rogers Centre is stepping it up (even more!) with new menu items like the Al Pastor Dog, ACE Dog, Biscoff churros, and even Uncrustables French toast.
Plus, returning favourites and local partners are bringing everything from loaded fries to wings and specialty snacks across the stadium – think rice dogs, smash burgers, and even new twists on classic ballpark eats. It’s very much a ‘come hungry’ situation.
You can talk, grab drinks, wander the stadium, and still have something exciting happening around you the entire time.

an elevated stadium experience
If you’re planning to make a night of it, there are also new ways to elevate the experience. On Opening Night, the Rogers Terrace opens its doors to members for the first time.

Located behind home plate on the 200 Level, this new members-only premium club features elite views of the ballpark, an interactive culinary experience including a pizza oven and sushi bar, and an outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Ontario.

Plus, around the 100 Level concourse, new installations highlight iconic players, moments, and milestones from the team’s 50-year history, while additional displays showcase championship memorabilia and legacy moments. It adds a layer of nostalgia that makes wandering the stadium part of the date.
And of course, no date night is complete without a little browsing and shopping. Jays Shop is stocked with exclusive 50th season merch, including collaborations with Roots and Peace Collective, plus drops you won’t find anywhere else.
