From Funk the Halls to Market Collective Cheer, here’s what’s up this weekend in YYC.

1. Market Collective Cheer 2017

The Market Collective is throwing a Holiday theme market, and you don’t want to miss out on this Christmas shopping experience. Talk a walk at the Inglewood Warehouse and shop from the amazing talented YYC community. There will also be food trucks to fuel that shopping mode, DJs, and live music. Tickets are $5 for the weekend and kids under 12 years old are free.

2. Funk The Halls

Get ready to Funk the Halls again this year! Borrowing inspiration from classic funk and hip-hop, The Funk Hunters are putting the soul back into electronic dance music. It’s about to be one funky Christmas.

 

3. Christmas in Kensington 
Saturday, December 16th, 12pm

‘Tis the season to drink complimentary coffee and hot chocolate, watch movies by donation at the Plaza Theatre, and take selfies with Santa, horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo and more! Come down to one of the prettiest neighbourhoods to celebrate the holiday season with Christmas in Kensington.

4. A Mad Hatters Zoo Lights

Come down to The Calgary Zoo and wear your best costume! The largest festive light display in Western Canada will be dressed up as Alice in Wonderland Mat Hatter this time! The Conservatory will be divided into three sections highlighting Santa in the Queen’s court, the Mad Hatter’s tea party in the butterfly garden, and down the rabbit hole in the Garden of Life.

 

 

5. Wild Rose Christmas Shoebox Party
Sunday, December 17th 10am – 12pm
National Westhills, Stewart Green SW 180

Spread some holiday cheer and pack a whole lot of love into a whole bunch of boxes with this one. Bring the family to National Westhills on December 17th to help fill shoeboxes for The Shoebox Project for Shelters. National will be purchasing items and collecting donations in advance, but feel free to bring donations with you as well. $15 at the door gets you a box, enough donations to fill and decorate it, and one pint of Wildrose beer to enjoy while you pack! Each shoebox will be filled with donations adding up to $50, ensuring that women in need or living in crisis will feel the love this season.
