What’s Up This Weekend

Roughnecks St. Paddy's

COVID-19 is really making its rounds in the media and in the public mind. To follow protocol, many YYC events have been postponed or cancelled the weekend. As much as that kinda sucks and as creepy as coronavirus is, there’s always a silver lining. We’re getting DUMPED with snow and cold this weekend. SO. All the more reason to get closer with your loved ones — given that none of you are sick, ya know! And stuff is STILL happening. Many fitness studios and restaurants are open and events of a smaller scale are keeping things hot. Check ‘em out below. JUST PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND ABOUT IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL. Thanks!

Get loud this weekend and take your date to the METAVORE album release party at The Rec Room! This kick ass band is super stoked to be launching their new album in YYC and will be delivering what they call “danky, ganky prog-metal” in exchange for a rocking time from the crowd! Doors open at 9PM.

Wanna have your cake and eat it too? Then bake up a sweet date with bae at a cake baeking (get it?) workshop at Cuisine Et Chateau! This two day workshop will teach you how to make the best cake ever from scratch — perfect if you have any birthdays coming up in your friend group! The classes run on March 14th and 15th.

Brew up your best weekend at Inner City Brewing’s Bend and Brew on March 14th from 10AM–11AM! Reset your mind in a one-hour yoga class followed by sipping a beer in Inner City’s hip and sleek taproom. Spots are limited so secure yours ASAP! All experience levels are encouraged to come — if you’re not sick.

Want to crank up the heat this weekend and beat (the crap!) out of the snow? Classes at both Rumble locations are still live this weekend. The studio is committed to cleanliness and strong hygienic practices on the regular and has amped that up next level amidst COVID-19 concerns. While studio glove rentals are available and are given a hardcore clean, Rumble is currently selling their signature boxing gloves for $50 off from $105. That is a serious steal! Check out their 17th Ave and Country Hills classes here.

It’s “uncommon” to find a spa and cocktail lounge as chic, edgy and inviting as this new hot spot on 17th Ave! Having recently opened, Uncommon takes a fresh approach to the nightlife scene serving up a vast array of bevvies from sassy cocktails, to posh wines and smooth beer. If you are NOT sick, def go check out this beauty of a bar this weekend!
