Presented by Juno-nominated Producer and Saxophonist Scott Morin, the PurpleJazz band was built around the intersection of hard-bop jazz and the music of Prince.
You and your date can see them live for their next monthly show at The Ironwood Stage & Grill this Sunday November 27!
About the show
The Ironwood Stage and Grill alongside Scott Morin are excited to give Calgary music and Prince fans a beautiful night filled with soulful, jazz and funky music.
Featuring Calgary’s greatest soulful jazz musicians, this concert will see a septet of jazz and soulful music veterans playing beautifully arranged versions of some of Prince’s greatest songs (arranged by BC-based musician Craig Soby) in addition to classic hard bop arrangements that you will rarely hear in Calgary; from legends of jazz including Hank Mobley, Clifford Brown, and Jackie McLean.
About the band
Three-time Juno Award-winning Producer Scott Morin founded the PurpleJazz concept while living in Toronto and running legendary jazz label Verve Records for 10 years from 2000 – 2010. Since moving home to Calgary, he has transplanted this concert series, dedicated to presenting jazz and the music of Prince, integrated into a night of fun stories, incredible music, and a celebration of one of the great artists in music history.
Shows are at 7pm and 8:30pm, doors open 6pm.
Tickets are $25 and can be booked by calling (403)269-5581 or emailing reservations@ironwoodstage.ca!
